Celebrating new baby

After a difficult time in hospital with my new baby, I am trying to move forward and celebrate having a newborn bundle of joy and keep positive. I wondered if anyone had any ideas about special things we could do? I never seemed to find the time to manage to do the baby milestone cards with DD1 so that is definitely something I am going to do this time but any other ideas would be welcomed. x

Congratulations on your new baby! You could write down interesting information about the day they were born: how much a pint of milk was; the temperature that day; the newspaper headlines (probably Covid19...). Or how about a star chart for the time and date of their birth? Obviously you can’t go out but could you buy some modelling clay to make a foot impression?

Thanks for the ideas, I've got some modelling clay so that's a great idea and the day you were born. I never found the time to do photo journals or things like that before so that's one positive of being on lockdown!

@frillseeking you could order paint and make footprints of the baby's feet and write on it how many months/weeks old he/she is.

Something I wish I'd done was a sort of timelapse of how quickly DS changed and grew, so photographing him next to the same object or in the same position every week, or taking a handprint once a month. Salt dough imprints are simple and cute.
We have a lovely print of the night sky from the location and time of DC's birth. A longer-term project is cutting squares from clothes as DC outgrows them to make a quilt. A diary or letter you can show DC when older. You could also plant a tree to grow with him/her. A playlist of music you listened to when you were pregnant or want to play to DC now.

These are all things that I have done or intended to (in reality I spent a lot of time in my PJ's and the baby milestones journal is mostly empty). Congratulations and enjoy being home with your baby.
