Dd is going to be 18 at the beginning of June and is hoping to be able to celebrate with a party and see all the friends she's missed so much.

Will it happen - yes or no?

I'm just following as my daughter is in the same position. A long awaited Birthday! Although I assume there will definitely be no parties but I'm hoping maybe at least visiting family or something.

I hope so!
I am having a very emotional day at all these long awaited plans being cancelled - I feel so sad about it all for people.

I wouldn't expect so 😔
My 30th is mid May and I'm not expecting to be able to even leave the house 😂

No.
Lockdown may have lifted but we’ll still be socially distant where possible.

I'd be preparing her for the chance it's not going to happen. It's crap but it's better than getting her hopes up and it doesn't happen. I think even after lockdown parties won't be allowed for a bit and we'll limited to how many people we can be with

DD has just celebrated her 18th, last Sunday, with family and friends albeit virtually. She spent pretty much all day talking and laughing with family and friends, and sharing drinks and cake with them. She even got to use her ID the next day as she and dh went to get some food shopping and she bought the fizz :) We blew up the giant inflatable fizz bottles, we had the balloons, we used all the party decorations we'd bought in and just decorated the house instead!

It should have been her party yesterday but we will do that again at a later date.

So, even if we aren't able to be out and about as much, don't despair - even if we aren't she will still be able to celebrate with her friends one way or the other.

I would like to think that by the beginning of June we will at least have more freedom and she could see a handful of friends? But that could be wishful thinking.

I am in a similar situation - my DD will be 18 at the start of May, so almost certainly won't be able to celebrate with my friends. I'm aware that it is such a small issue considering what else is going on but I am so sad for her Sad - it is such a milestone. Sympathy to you and your DD.

@Aragog my daughter has just turned 18 too and we did a very similar celebration to what you did. We have promised her that we will rebook her party and her holiday (her main present) as soon as all of this is over.

Yes the party will be rebooked for either later this year or around her 19th. I've even kept her cards which she received so we can re display them at the party.
