Asda online shopping ing - any tips?

Hi, I’m very grateful to have managed to get an online delivery slot for Asda for next Thursday (asthmatic so vulnerable but not severe enough to be in the shielded group - and also ordering items for my elderly neighbour). I have obviously ordered a trolley load of groceries and understand I can go back in 2 days before it’s due to amend the order which I think I will do to try to replace the inevitable out of stocks,

But I am slightly anxious that doing this will somehow risk cancelling the whole order - is there anything I need to watch out for? I haven’t shopped online with Asda before so don’t have any experience . Would be really grateful for any tips. Thanks

I've been doing my parents Asda order for some time now and one weird thing that's happened recently is some items becoming out of stock when adding to the trolley. This happened last week with milk and their usual potatoes so I chose substitutes. I didn't remove the original out of stock items so on delivery day they received both Confused so I would just make sure you remove anything showing as out of stock

Well if you don't remove out of stock items and they come back into stock you would be getting both wouldn't you?

Try to only amend it is you need to as things will go in and out of stock

Just make sure you complete the checkout process again after making any amendments or they won't be saved. As pp said it can be a bit glitchy at the moment as products appear available and then aren't when you hit the checkout button - just a sign of the high traffic though I imagine.

I was worried too. I updated a few hours before deadline, but wondered if the day before would have been better in case of any problems.

There were about 17 items out of stock, so I updated those.
I always tick substitutions and often order a backup of my own - so, if I've ordered onions I might order celery too just in case the onions don't come.

I like the fact Asda doesn't limit to 80 items. Though it did send 1 bottle of wine when I ordered 3 - not sure if it's restricting alcohol?

We were in SI.

Ive used Asda click and collect a couple of times recently and found them very good. I’ve added to my order the day before collection but left anything on the order that was showing as out of stock. When I’ve collected my order some of the out of stock items have been included (I assume they were delivered to the store overnight) and the rest have had sensible substitutions.

You must make sure you go through the check out process again.

It was explained that they are not accepting the return of any unwanted substitutes at the point of collection as this is time consuming and they are extremely busy. They will however refund the price of any unwanted substitute. This is easy to request on the App - and you get to keep the substitute too.

Thank you all - that’s really useful
