I know it is not great but have you found any benefits of this? In context to the Easter break and adapting to the situation. I no longer have young dc

Mine are not having to rush around and be super organised making sure all my stuff is ready the night before

Not mislaying items as I'm not going out e.g. umbrella, phone charger cord, etc

Not worrying about roots and blow drying hair

Not spending money and buying stuff. Using up things I have

Wearing less variety of clothes so less laundry and ironing

House is tidy on the whole and things put away

Time to plan meals and check what we already have. Time to cook properly and bake

Not constantly worrying about going somewhere and leaving a certain time to avoid traffic. If you go out very occasionally (food shop) roads are clear or car park isn't rammed

Time to enjoy a hobby

If you’re privileged you’ll be saving money. Not spending on things which kept lower paid people in employment cleaners, restaurants, commuting....
If you’re poor, you’ll generally be poorer....UC hasn’t changed but your outgoings prob have

People like me who fear and loathe 'organised fun' in equal measure are enjoying not being judged as antisocial for once!

Blissful relief at dodging so many horrors. Sports Day, Parents' Evening, Parents' Assembly, couple of weddings, two work bashes and a 50th, all cancelled. I love cancellations.
(Am being light-hearted here...before I get flamed!)

No need to make up excuses not to 'attend things'.

No feeling guilty about spending a few hours watching trashy tv!

Not spending money on clothes or going out.

Saving money and keeping overbearing parents and PILs at bay when DD2 is born in 2 weeks. Can’t wait for undisturbed time with my baby!

Less rubbish on the paths and endless leaflets through the door.

Air is cleaner and peace and quiet

I’m catching up with all the outstanding jobs some of which have been waiting 5 years Smile
More time with my ds. A better knowledge of what he’s doing at school.
Time to talk to my family more.

I’m going to seriously re-evaluate life when this is over.

Pub next door is closed, so we can actually sit in the garden without a load of shrieking kids having screaming competition in the beer garden 3 feet away
Bliss

I'm absolutely loving it tbh. It's a terrible world situation of course but I can't deny I'm enjoying the extended paid time off work. DP is off work for the forseeable too so it's us and our two kittens all day every day. Feels like the Summer holidays again except I have my own house to enjoy it in :D

I'm definitely a very lucky person.

Cheaper fuel and a faster, easier commute to work.

The list is long for me
Not having to travel every week
Having the whole family at the dinner table every night
Not being a daily taxi service for the kids
Saving money
No pressure to see lots of relatives regularly
No pressure to entertain the kids
No pressure to go anywhere in fact
Roads quieter/less pollution

I am still working full time and it is stressful, but all the above makes it very different in some ways. I would love to say we would reevaluate life, but I am not so sure we will be able to in some ways. We'll see....

  • No commuting on a smelly train into London.
  • Beautiful walks in the countryside every day instead. Actually seeing Spring happen day by day instead of rushing to work every day.
  • Not having to endure annoying work colleagues and generally not having to be sociable with people I don't like.
  • Spending time in the garden, getting loads of jobs done around the house.
  • Loads of time to do my hobby.
  • Not feeling guilty/lame for not going out.
  • Spending lots of time with the person I love most.
  • Catching up with friends I haven't seen for ages.
  • Getting to know the neighbours and the nice sense of community.
  • Eating better because of no meals out.
  • Saving money because of the above.

I miss my family but I have to admit that as an introvert, I'm quite enjoying the rest of it...I will be making changes to my life when this is over.

Spending time with my much less stressed husband

Going for a lovely walk or bike ride every morning together

Having the house lovely tidy (have sorted and decluttered loads) more still to do.

Garden looking great as husband has had time to do it.

Have been doing loads of home cooked (both of us )

Have been read, playing cards, playing backgammon, watch box sets.

At the moment I’m not missing much but it will be lovely meeting friends and family in real life again, going to the pub , going to restaurants , seeing live music , live comedy , and live theatre.

I won’t take anything for granted ever again.

I’m really really missing the gym.

I sleep better as I'm not worried about my commute and leaving the house on time. It's always such a rush and I'm all hot and bothered by the time I get to work

Although me and do are both still working as were both key workers (me nhs and him delivery driver) we are enjoying spending more time together at home I stead of rushing here there and everything, thinking we have to be doing something all the time. Were saving money and getting jobs do e around the house that we always make excuses not to do, usury we are too busy.
I also love that the earth seems to starting to heal from all the damage we humans have done to it. Maybe an annual lockdown is needed to reverse the effects of pollution on the planet
