Anyone else really lost fitness already (and ooh my ankles hurt!)

Ok I’ve realised that living in slippers has been a mistake: my knee and ankle joints are now so stiff!

I’ve really lost fitness in just two weeks: I was running or cycling nearly every day (not for long and I’m quite podgy so not a gym bunny at all).

I didn’t take advantage of the daily exercise - think I felt too miserable - and now I’m really stiff and couldn’t run if I wanted to.

Anyone else really lost fitness in a short period of time.

I’m too scared to test my fitness! Grin

I’m usually a weights girl and I have limited equipment at home, and the reason I pay for a gym is because I have never managed to make myself train at home. Closest I’ve got so far is PE with Joe Wicks (hardly the same).

I’ve been doing online yoga sessions with my usual teachers which has been nice to keep me ticking over, but it’s not the same either.

I’ve been walking loads and keeping activity levels up in general to try and curb weight gain, but I think I might have to try and carve out time for some form of resistance training if this goes on past a few more weeks.

Definitely. I can feel it and I can see it in the mirror.

I need classes for the bigger equipment, but mainly for the motivation Grin

Absolutely! It’s not so much the workouts as I’m keeping up with my usual sessions online. But all the incidental stuff... normal my home-nursery-work and back is a either a 14 mile round trip or at least 5 miles of walking.... can’t get close to that at home all day!

I’ve switched my attention to my upper body. Found some weights and some resistance bands, and trying to do some online yoga as well.

I'm doing workouts during the day but I am so sore after them. I do the workout then dont move. I am used to moving around all day with work. Not as fit as I was. We've been in lock down since the 14th of March. My last physical exercise class was the 13th of March, my last day of work was March 12th.
My hip also hurts although that's been bugging me for a while. Had planned to get it looked at over the Easter break but that's not happening now.

Sadly yes.

I usually train for 20 + hours a week, much of it in cold water in rivers outside of winter. It is very important for me as I have EDS and very lose joints. Without hard physical exercise I end up in terrible pain all the time and at risk of fatigue, disloactions and subluxations.

I am trying my best but have a nasty knee injury that I could probably fix with a few days of water therapy, as advised by various doctors and physios. Even if I could travel to the rivers via the bus I would arguably be encouraging others to jump in, so I have been doing my best without and suffering very much.

I lost fitness over the winter as my regime was put on hold while I attempted to support an extremely vulnerable person with mental health problems who was suicidal and facing various challenges.

My plan was to get back into fitness once she was better supported. Things have worked out very badly for me re this and I am scared about how unfit I am and how unfit I will be if I cannot exercise in water soon

The sickening thing is that I would have risked going to the gym before it closed as my chances of surviving are much better if I am physically fit. I did not go because I wanted to protect my elderly neighbours.

Many of my neighbours are being extremely reckless, meeting up with relatives, meeting up with friends. My upstairs neighbour is coughing all the time and not self isolating.

If I had known how they would be behaving I would have spent all my time at the gym prior to lock down
