British Airways Vouchers - can't get through on the phone

Hi all
Like many millions of people we had to cancel a trip. I'd booked air tickets with BA to go to a wedding in Italy in May. The ceremony was cancelled so I went on the BA website and found out I could cancel my flights and request a voucher (even though at the moment the flights are not cancelled). So I did and got the vouchers by email. Unfortunately they're only redeemable by phone and it's impossible the get through. I very much would like to use the vouchers towards a Christmas holiday but I'm unable to if I can't get through on the phone.
Any Ideas? I did tweet them with this problem and they said "keep trying".
It was flights only and not a holiday package of booked with BA.
Seems unfair to issue vouchers and not being able to use Them!

BA are terrible at the moment. I tried to call but got the message that if I’m not travelling in 72 hours to call back and got cut off.

I think you answered your own question in the first line of your post.

Unprecedented demand for the customer service staff, and many off them will be off work or isolating. Many of the rest will be minimum wage and replying on a reduced public transport network.

For those who aren’t they will have had to completely change the way their call centres, toilets, rest rooms etc operate to implement social distancing.

Cut them some slack, every business in the country has basically had to adapt to unprecedented demand at a time when they have had to implement disaster recovery plans and deal with a massively depleted work force.

Wouldn't it make sense for BA to make the vouchers redeemable online?
