End of July UK holiday

I know I might get laughed at for this or possibly make people angry (or both).
But I’m still holding out hope that our holiday at the end of July will go ahead. It’s a cottage in a UK destination, near to the beach and countryside.
What’s the likelihood of it going ahead, in people’s honest opinions? I just feel like I need something nice to look forward to.

I was just talking to dh about maybe rebooking our cancelled flights for October, and we both agreed not to risk it - two weeks ago I still had high hopes for our July holidays, and two months ago I thought I was going abroad next week.
So much has changed so fast, honestly who knows what comes next.

I had one booked in Norfolk for April - I called and they rescheduled for August but it's open-ended to keep pushing it forward. We knew (us and the hotel) August was a pipe dream but I can call a month before and push it forward again which no doubt will happen . It was a Xmas gift from my daughter and we were so looking forward to it.

I have a UK based holiday booked for end of June and I’m 90% certain it won’t go ahead. I actually feel bad for the holiday company as they closed down a month ago and I should imagine they’ll lose the entire years booking Sad

I doubt it will go ahead, simply because we won’t have a covid vaccine by then. So whilst lockdown restrictions might be eased in a few months, they may ban travelling across the uk like this or social gatherings etc. Until we have a vaccine we might have to continue to social distance to some degree

I'm thinking of booking glamping for August but only if I don't have to pay too much up front.

I would hope that it's still going ahead. Personally I'd leave it booked and if the gov still haven't pulled their finger out by then, im sure the holiday people would rearrange.

brow that's a good point and one I hadn't thought of. I'd imagine lockdown would be over by July but hadn't thought abkyt restricting movement. I really really hope they don't. Once this shit is over we're gonna wanna have a nice time - abd I'd assume you can social distance 2m as well in Cornwall as in South Wales for eg - but you've made a really good point . Bugger. Am getting vv fed up with this. And we prob have at least another 4 weeks to go don't we

I did pre-payment for a UK holiday and really hope the agent cancels (since they can't provide the service) and I get the money back.

I ve just booked a camping week for the first week in August (just paid a small deposit) as I know our abroad holiday in July won't be happening, we can move the booking to next year if necessary I just like having something to maybe look forward to. We have a cottage in the lakes booked for the end of August too, booked last year before any of this happened but again if it can't go ahead we can move it to next year or cancel as the balance isn't due until just before we go. I think there is more chance of UK holidays going ahead than abroad holidays this summer, but I think we just need to see how things pan out over the next few months.

Wouldn't bet on it going ahead, but equally wouldn't rule it out.

Jet2 have said their flights and holidays will maybe resume mid June.

No one knows yet.

I’m off to Florida (well I ‘was’) for a month from July 21st.

I’ve had every answer from...

‘airlines will go bust if they lose the summer! holidays have to go ahead’

to

‘no chance!’.

Personally, I’ve decided to just stop caring either way. I’ve accepted that if we go, we go and if we don’t, we don’t.

There is literally no one who can give a definitive answer.

@DBML I'm similar as well, we had booked for a villa holiday from 28th July to the canaries. I'm hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. It would be amazing if we could go but totally understand if we can't.

We have a few days in the New Forest boomed end of July. I’m doubtful, and not getting my hopes up. But I have until 7th July to cancel.

At the end of July I'd say there is a likelyhood it will go ahead, by this time the economy will be wanting to get restarted.

I think it could well go ahead. July is ages away.
