How do you sanitise your shopping?

Do you wash your tins with soap for 20 seconds? What do you do about bread in paper or meat or plastic cartons? And what about fresh fruit and vegetables?

We just dispose of bags, put food away and wash hands. And just rinse fruit and veg as normal. I'm comfortable the level of risk involved is very small.

I’m more in need of sanitising myself at the moment. But my sanitising spray doesn’t seem to be helping.

Anything that doesn't require freezing or chilling gets to stay in a safe place untouched for 72 hours.

Anything that can be transferred to clean bags is transferred. For example bread, and the outer bag is binned.

Fruit and veg is washed.

Eggs are washed and transferred to a clean egg carton (older than 72 hours)

Milk cartons are wiped down.
Meat is either transferred to clean containers or container wiped down with appropriate cleaner and left to dry.

Multipacks are opened and contents tipped out, then outer is disposed of.

We have highly vulnerable in our house and this is necessary.

It's quite quick to do now, the first few times took more thinking about.

I am hiding the good chocolate in a secure biscuit tin location for the safety of the family, just in case it's harbouring dangerous bacteria.

Wipe everything thoroughly with dettol wipes. Discard as much outer packaging as possible.

I wash things that can take a washing, remove packaging (don't seem this as wasteful, I take bread from its wrapper into a large Tupperware, some things into a plastic freezer bag but I will be reusing the bag). Tins - I've wiped those but I must say I'm pouring my cans of coke etc into a glass rather than drinking from the can as I would usually do. Although I will wash my hands thoroughly I cannot guarantee the children will do so every time they touch something in the cupboard, so I would rather the stuff was clean. I leave some in the car for three days.
It's not easy to know what is important and what not, but it's not like I don't have time on my hands just now.

Aderyn19 I’m not sure if you’re serious or not but if you are serious you should not be washing your eggs in soapy water. The shells are permeable. If you really insist on washing them rinse them under water just before cooking.

I don't and think that especially using wipes to do so is quite wasteful, a soapy cloth would do the same
