You forgot Kim Kardashian, I mean Sylvia Browne, and no end of "psychic" wunderkinder whose websites suddenly miraculously say things like "our loyal readers predicted a pandemic in their dreams but for obvious reasons we didn't advertise the fact". Yeah. Right. I mean, I'm all for a bit of woo, but come on, people. I wouldn't be surprised if Mother Shipton and Baba Yaga were in on the act an' all.
Plagues have been with us forever. Look up St Justinian, the Great Mortality, and, oh yes, the 1918 'Flu. There are myriads of others.
Viruses are very clever lifeforms. (Evidently cleverer than many of us, including me.) I'm more bothered about the fact the entire human race has revealed itself, en masse, with a very few honorable exceptions, to be even more stupid and panic-ridden than previously assumed. And that we have multiple governments who don't seem to read their own risk registers, let alone actually plan for something that scientists have been warning about for decades.
Especially most of our glorious, er, leaders, who all started panicking round about the time they realised that this virus was not limited to the elderly/poor/darker skinned delete as applicable.
Doesn't really augur well for the even bigger elephant in the room, Climate Change. (Yes, I know we have to get through this first. Besides which the Earth itself/Nature both appear to be doing rather well in some quarters without so many of us pointlessly rushing around like demented 4-limbed ants.)
