Conspiracies and coronavirus [hmm]

Personally I don't believe the conspiracies but I am finding them interesting to hear about!

So I know there is a 5G thread at the moment but it made me think about general conspiracies and the links people are making to Coronavirus.

I've been off social media but have noticed through phone messages/going to get groceries that a few people actually are on board with the conspiracies.

In the past week a cashier at the supermarket who said he thinks Coronavirus isn't as it seems and hyped.

My Brother-in-Law has said the extra helicopters flying around are to scare us. This was in London and around a day ago when Boris was in hospital so the media helicopters would be out in droves. How "they" want to control us and something about "them" wanting to destroying China's economy and that's why "they" invented Coronavirus. When I asked for further explanation I was told "I don't know, who knows what's real anymore". He also thinks the red background on Sky News (image of a virus) is done deliberately to subliminally convey fear. I think it is just the theme of the subject which they do change depending on the topic in normal times.

A friend mentioned how 5G came at the same time as the virus so is the cause; the virus is actually flu; a nurse they know said its all weird and doesn't believe it; wifi caused her illness when it first came to the UK; Coronavirus is a way to control and track us all; Boris isn't in hospital and something else is going on.

Don't even get me started on the new £20 note conspiracy...Hmm

  • Do you believe any of the conspiracies?
  • How are you responding to people you know who knock you sideways with conspiracies when normally they aren't into them?
  • Is it a case of being "woke" Hmm?

My mother is 100% convinced it is a chemical weapon developed in Wuhan and deliberately released by "them" to reduce the population. She is vague about who "them" are but they are in charge of all governments and leadership regimes. She's also convinced that this weapon is so effective drinking liquids at 27 degrees or higher can kill it. An NHS Dr posted that part on FB so it must be true.

I've stopped responding to her texts about it now.

Whilst I think it’s good to be open minded and not believe everything written in the mainstream media, some of these theories are beyond silly.

Pandemics just happen now and then, usually related to unsafe food choices and zoonotic transmission now and through all of history. There is no conspiracy.

Reading peer reviewed science is the only 'woke'

The only thing I'm willing to give a second thought to is that the viral research centre in Wuhan which was supposedly working on Covid19 (as has been reported) and it 'getting out' accidentally or otherwise.

I don't think we'll ever know though.

I don't think threads like this are a good thing. They just inadvertently spread silly dangerous theories further. You never know who is taking things seriously.

My current favourite one is that Disney released the virus to get more revenue for Disney+ Grin

I find people that believe these theories tend to fall into one of the following categories:

  • Easily influenced/gullible
  • Low achievers
  • Difficult to reason with, illogical
  • Little or no understanding of how the world/economy works

There are many out there that like to believe they are 'woke', that they know the secrets of the world that the super rich don't want you to know. This seems to empower them and give them a false sense of pride and superiority amongst those in the rat race, working for the 'system'.

I sometimes ask these people what they are going to do with this knowledge, to which they rarely have an answer.

If they spent less energy on these BS theories and use that energy on bettering themselves, they'll likely be in a much better mental place, but then that's a lot harder to do! Easier to believe some nutjob on youtube than do something productive with your life. Easier to make excuses for why the rich and powerful are where they are… e.g “oh they got there because of the illuminati” and not because they worked hard for it, which helps remove any effort on their part.

These people will never be successful.

What’s the new £20 note conspiracy..? Is it the reason why I’m less rich famous and successful than I should be?

Bio engineered as part of agenda 21 (the depopulation agenda) . A vaccine will then be used as a vehicle for somthing else. Either making people infertile or some sort of nanobot to do somthing.

Not saying I belive that but it's not out of the realm of possibilities. Polio vaccine gave people aids and they give women implants in the third world to stop fertility without making the consequences clear to the recipient.

Just saying it wouldn't be the first time shit like this has happened, just a bigger scale.

@Saz12 The below was from a nicely summarised article fullfact.org/online/5g-coronavirus-20-note/

Conspiracy: The £20 note shows a 5G tower giving off emissions and a coronavirus symbol.

Fact: The ‘5G tower’ is Margate Lighthouse. The ‘coronavirus’ is based on a famous staircase at the Tate Britain art gallery.

@Dyrne haha! Apparently Tangled has a town/village called Corona too Grin
