As with everyone I am so anxious about Covid 19
Will life ever go back to the way it was?
Seeing family
Nightclubs
Pubs
Holidays
Parties
To name a few

I believe so but not for at least a year I believe

It's not going anywhere anytime soon - until there's a vaccine it will be all about riding the wave and protecting the NHS

It will, but it might be a while.

Yes, all of those things will go back to near normal.

However I think lots of things will change, lots of people will be left with health anxiety that didn't have it before.

Obviously lots of peoples lives will change through losing loved ones & losing jobs, marriages & lifestyles.

So 'life as we knew it' for many will be changed forever. But for many (especially younger) people it probably won't seem much different.

I think it will take a vaccine and 12 months to get back to normal on the domestic front and even longer for international travel to return to how things were.

Yes it will one day it’s just a question of when.

It's making me depressed (I was already depressed seeing counsellor prior to it all) but this has tipped me over.

I'm going to get medication as soon as I can get to the doctors.

I just feel it's a step too far for me to handle.

Call me a snowflake or whatever, so be it but I can't handle it if it goes on longer than this month.

I think life will gradually return.
Once people start going out again and the shops start being normal again then things will slowly go back to as they were.
It will be strange but look how we've adapted so far? Give it six months and things won't look as bleak.
I'll be glad to go in a shop and not have to queue up and have everyone being so weird!
I think we will be ok.
They will find a vaccine.

Yeah course. People have short memories. It will be fine long term but we need to get through this first.
Then there will be a period of relaxation of government measures.
Then once that has ended, there will be a period of people still being suspicious, hand washing, anti-baccing, social distancing.
Slowly they will forget.
And it will be "do you remember Covid-19"

Until there is a Covid-29 or Covid-39 or a new pangolin guts virus.

Yes it will, probably in about 12-18 months. It will be a distant memory to most.
Should it go back to ‘normal’? I’m not sure. I think we should probably learn something from all this.
Agree that there will be a lot of people left with health anxiety. My 6 year old has become a complete germaphobe, despite us barely mentioning it in front of her. She’s generally a bit of an over thinker, and I’m having to try and stop her washing her hands every 5 mins. She has developed eczema on her hands/wrists from extreme washing.

I think life will go back to being settled and good (for those of us lucky enough to enjoy life before)
I think lots will change permanently though. I'm hoping less travel by air and road, less spending, more enjoyment of simple things.
I'd love to think we'll start paying people who work in certain jobs (nhs but also carers, cleaners etc) better but I doubt it.

I hope foreign holidays and business trips go, along with a lot of industry that pollutes our planet.
I'm hoping this is our new normal and society starts to value the simpler things in life and their community.
Just realised I'm agreeing with Stealth
My biggest hope is for people to realise success isn't measured by money, earnings and possessions, but happiness with what you have, not the constant wanting of more.

My big fear is Ebola. A bacterial infection really would be a bad thing ( as if this isn't bad enough. )
I think people will be more wary and maybe more aware of germs and how they can affect our lives. It's easy to be complacent when we have good sanitation and vaccines etc but maybe this might be a wake up call that flu or a virus can be more deadly than it might seem. People might be more health conscious. I won't take normal shopping for granted ever again! It's so stressful at the moment,
I still think life will go back to normal eventually though.

Do you have any family who live abroad? If it wasn’t for foreign ‘holidays’, we’d never see our family.

Of course it will (for most people obviously). I remember thinking the same about 9/11 and 7/7 and although they - and many other similar events - changed the world, life does go on and we just adapt.

100% this ^^

Nothing to do with getting a holiday. It’s to do with the fact that many people have family living in various parts of the world. Banning all international travel would mean never seeing them again.
Do you have relatives living in other countries?

Report
Cuddling57 · 07/04/2020 21:45

It will, although I'm hoping for some positive changes. This includes a better attitude to not going to work whilst ill. I've NEVER wanted to catch your cold, cough, sickness bug! Also I don't want my DS to catch it from school either.

Oh don't be daft. Should no-one ever see their families again then?

In time it will logistically get back to normal.

I think the global impact of this and the way it's affected everyone so personally and indiscriminately makes it far more reaching than a 9/11 type event or even wars. Those are shocking and I remember them, but most watch on TV or a few might have families involved.

This has impacted everyone so directly and in multiple ways.

Report
Cornettoninja · 07/04/2020 21:51

@Cuddling57 I agree with you to a point, but we can’t ever not catch anything, we’d end up dropping dead from the slightest bug. We need a regularly challenged immune system to stay healthy and provide a buffer to those with weak immune systems by having strong immune systems to inhibit the spread of other diseases at various points.
