Birthday gifts during the Coronavirus

What gifts am I supposed to give my children when i cant leave the house to buy them? Does anyone have any ideas?

Buy something online or from the toy section of a supermarket.

Order online? How long until their birthday? Deliverys are taking longer but still going if you can wait a few weeks. If it's soon you could try the toy section in bigger supermarkets, there still allowed to sell non essentials alongside food.

How old is DC? Will they understand if you give one or two token things, with the promise of more gifts and celebrations later in the year.

Some of the branches of Sainsburys have an Argos in them that you can still use if you ordered online you could pick up in store while doing essential shopping. Only if there's one near you but worth a look.

@ForeverBubblegum they are 6 and 13 but their birthdays fall around the same time (end of April, beginning of may) . I have never really shopped online but will try and look for toys they may like.

I have got a couple of small things there for dd but basically Ive told her she is getting money so she is prepared for it. More money than she usually gets because I am over compensating but our income has not been affected so I can do this.

@CrocodileFondue @TinyTear thankyou. I hadn't thought of argos in sainsburys as we dont normally shop there. Any suggestions for an older child (13) I've been stuck on what to get them for the last few birthdays and christmas and now I really dont know.

DD1 is on Easter Sunday, we ordered from Amazon. Also picked up a few smaller things with before lockdown so we had something just in case online shopping stopped for anything but essentials somehow..

Homemade hampers?
I'm making my 15 year old a chocolate hamper.
You can make a hamper with bath bombs, perfume, sweets, cuddly toy, nail polish, small toys ...all from supermarkets.
If your DC play online games you can buy/download new games or vouchers.
Supermarkets also have books and magazines.

My girl is 7 soon. She is getting one toy and a movie day with a tea of her choice, she's happy with that and is looking forward to having me cook burgers for her.
I ordered her toy from The Entertainer online. It came within 3 days. 👍

The entertainer/early Learning Centre., argos, amazon ect they are all still delivering. I have just ordered my baby son a gift for his first birthday in May 😊

So back to topic - I’ve managed to source wrapping paper, cards and presents
There are 5 child’s birthdays coming up in the next month.
All have been sourced from EBay, H&M, John Lewis, entertainer etc

So many shops still have an online presence to keep them ticking along in the background

I think this situation is going to see a lot of bricks and mortar companies ditch the bricks and mortar tbh.

Shops like Smyth's, The Entertainer etc. The shops have high overheads and more workers. They'll realise online sales are more profitable.

My daughter’s birthday is December. I’m wondering if I should get a few things now. Also for Christmas. I think Christmas will be cancelled this year basically. I’m wondering if just to totally ignore it and not even celebrate it. My son doesn’t believe in santa but my daughter will think she’s been bad and that’s why she hasn’t got any presents. I know it’s first world problems but I can’t bear the thought of that.
