Just wondering how everyone is doing.

We had a good start with a Brexit stash. Have had a couple of click and collects and one normal supermarket shop. DH has been checking regularly for stock though. Our supermarket has been up and down in terms of stock.
We have most stuff, couldn’t get cornflakes last week and can’t get tinned tomatoes. Trying to cook with potatoes as much as we can as pasta is sometimes not available. Loo roll arrived as normal last week in the clock and collect.

I think we’ve been quite lucky and fortunate to be able to stock up in advance.

How’s everyone else doing? Missing major stuff and having to eat odd combinations or fairly complete now.

Eaten a lot of stuff that has been in cupboards/freezer for ages.

Couple of takeaways from local pub, one big food shop yesterday. That was the only time either of us had left the house for just over two weeks.

A few items not available when shopping yesterday (pasta, eggs) and all tins limited to one per customer which is a bit rubbish as I eat a lot of tuna but will have to eat something else. Bread and baps were limited so got one loaf and four bald that will have to last a couple of weeks (or more likely do without after tomorrow when they will all be eaten)

As long as I have access to food of some description I am really not arsed if we have to do without certain things but have never been a fussy eater and none of us are thankfully.

Food is to sustain us. If that means we do without some of our usual favourites for a while to stop having to trek to the shop then it’s no big deal.

Absolutely no problems where we live - rural, smallish town. I avoid the ‘big’ supermarkets and have found everything I need at a smaller Sainsburys or Co Op. Local butcher will deliver, garden centre delivering vegetables. I almost feel embarrassed reading some of the threads on here, I have the time and energy to cook nice meals. (I also shop for any neighbours who need shopping of course).

Not too bad at the moment. Our local supermarket is also missing a lot of everyday stuff like ketchup, but we still be able to get alternatives for most of things.

Had a few deliveries prebooked and they have had most of what I needed so feel pretty ok for the moment.

We are fine. We still have a weekly online shop and have had some bits from local suppliers so we are actually eating better than normal! Very lucky! Only thing we haven't managed to get is yeast as ours ran out just before this started and I forgot to replace. But there's plenty of bread anyway.

Well some of us didn’t and have made do without, just purchasing a little at a time so as to not waste, being creative. Along with shopping at a couple of farm shops that do drive through collection no contact

We are working our way through the Brexit stash too. We've been using up what's in the freezer and cupboard due to a loss of income, things are going to start to get interesting... or not so interesting (thinking beans on toast, soup, odd food combinations etc.) but we will manage! I need to venture out to the shop today, haven't been for a while and could do with a few fresh things.

We’re doing fine. Haven’t been to a big supermarket since the schools shut, have managed with one Ocado delivery and our little local Tesco. We’ve got an Asda click and collect tomorrow which will take us up until after Easter weekend, and then another one for the following week. Luckily/unluckily DH still has to drive to work so will be able to pick up bread/milk when he gets petrol over the next couple of weeks.

We had a good brexit store cupboard and managed to get one delivery at the start of lockdown which means we have been ok for fresh stuff too. Our problems have been in making sure elderly relatives have food and don't need to venture out.

Can't get tinned tomatoes for love nor money. Otherwise, okay.

I'm going out and shopping, though, as delivery slots around us are hard to get, and so I feel guilty taking one from someone who actually can't get out. My small local shops are all fairly quiet, I drove to the big Tesco on Friday, but the queue to go in made me feel horribly anxious, so I came home.

If possible avoid the ‘big’ supermarkets, I visited my very elderly parents yesterday (assume that comes under caring for the vulnerable category) and shopped for them at their local Tesco which is fairly small, it was almost empty (of customers) and loads of stock, including lots of mark downs of things going out of date ... so yes, I did buy a lot of those.

We're doing okay. We're generally a pretty well stocked household so had plenty of tins, store cupboard stuff, cleaning products, toiletries etc that we're working our way through. We're shopping twice a week ish, it's a 2 mile walk to town (we don't drive)where there's an Aldi, Lidl, Co op, Home Bargains and Tesco metro which are well stocked. The very up hill walk back is a bit of a pain but we're not struggling to eat well.

Thankfully my cupboards and freezer were well stocked up for Brexit.

I'm also fortunate in that I get my milk and bread delivered via my milk man who has been a god send.

I'm currently doing weekly shops late at night about an hour before closing. I could probably stretch that to every fortnight but the restrictions make that difficult.

Still I think I'm doing pretty good where non-essential journeys are concerned. I obviously have to go into work what with working in a school, but other than that I'm staying at home in my flat by myself. It really isn't that hard, you get used to it fairly quickly.

No takeaways here. I don't trust the hygiene standards and would much rather prepare all my own food.

Fine for now. Rationing portions and ingredients a bit, no between meals snacking to prolong periods between shopping trips. DC are eating porridge and lentils without complaining Grin
Trying to avoid local shopping as have a car, and lots of families on our estate rely on local shop as have no transport.
We are working on the allotment as much as exercise rule allows (following local council guidelines, accessible from our house) and are putting in early crops under cover so we don't have to add to the demand for fresh produce once it's coming up.

We’re okay. I live a two minute walk from a small supermarket and two petrol stations which sell groceries so I have no need to visit a large supermarket or take up a delivery slot. I also tend to keep the cupboards and freezer fairly full at normal times, not in a prepper way just out of habit, once I’ve opened something I tend to buy a replacement in the next shop.

We’re also a small family of three and none of us have huge appetites, a loaf of bread normally lasts us about ten days and I have to keep in the freezer to stop it going mouldy. Our biggest consumption is probably milk, on weekdays DH eats cereal for both breakfast and lunch and we both drink a lot of hot drinks.

As with pps we’ve had a few odd combinations and some freezer roulette meals but that’s fine.

Fine here too. Getting a veg box for vegetables. Local shop full of other staples (bread, milk, pasta, rice etc) more expensive than the supermarket but a couple of minutes walk away. Supermarkets have most things in.

Not too bad here. I’d just bought a 5kg pasta bag before this started so still working our way through that. We’ve been getting weekly fruit/veg boxes with bread and then doing a big supermarket shop every 2 weeks. Have found that we are able to get most things 👍

We had a bit of a Brexit stash so we had not really had to buy any tins / loo roll.

I did buy one big bag of pasta before people started stockpiling which I am glad about as my DC eat a lot of pasta.

My freezer was pretty full already but I have added a couple of things. Not much.

We are eating out of the fridge where possible and definitely wasting less than normal. Eating lots of potatoes. And lots of veg.

I am probably eating better than normal as no meals put and no popping into supermarket for pizza on our way home from a day out.

We prepped on the proviso of 3 months of disruption back at the end of Jan/early February.

We’re on week 3 of lockdown, we’re good for now.
