TUI - part refund

Hi all, I rearranged my Easter holiday with TUI for a later date but they owe me a partial refund as the holiday I booked was cheaper. It's a few hundred quid and I could do with the cash. Has anyone managed to get a refund from them? When I asked when I would get my money credited back the advisor was very vague...don't want them sitting on it and offering vouchers when it wouldn't be enough to book another holiday.

DH and I were meant to be on Honeymoon with TUI right now but the holiday was cancelled.

I requested a full refund 2 weeks ago and am still waiting. They said it may take up to 14 working days.

Not sure what the position is on partial refunds, but would have thought you would be entitled to receive the difference back. When did you last speak to them?

I spoke to them on Monday and they just said 'we're reviewing our refund policy at the moment' and was a bit vague. Wish I'd pushed it at the time but given I've rebooked I would expect the difference back. The invoice for my new holiday just says that I've made an over-payment. (Sorry your honeymoon was cancelled, hope you make up for it).

Have a look at their fb page. People are waiting for refunds from early March.

@PumpkinP I changed it to very end of August/first week of Sept. Might be a bit optimistic but it was a holiday just for me and my 16 year old and she's doing A levels next year, so couldn't really rearrange for 2021. They let me change the destination too.

Oh that’s good to hear, we are booked for 13th sept and it’s the first time taking my children on holiday so really feeling down about it. I’ve only paid the deposit so really don’t know what to do about the next payment due next month.

Just read the FB comments, it does feel like they're just sitting on everyone's money when people like Jet2 have given immediate refunds. I was trying to do the right thing by rearranging rather than cancelling, but now feel like they might force me to take an amount in vouchers which isn't going to be enough to pay for a holiday and will effectively force me to book another holiday with them to recoup my money! The staff lie when you phone them, they clearly have no intention of refunding at the minute.

I rang Tui midweek (on my departure date) on the number they tell you to call once you have received a refund credit note. It took an hour to get through, but despite not having a credit note, a full refund was given and the money has been paid back onto my payment card today.

Just seen the latest post on this. You were lucky you got through! I've been trying this morning and it doesn't even give the option to hold.
