Is a recession coming?

Just that really.

What are people's thoughts on the property market and a recession?

I've seen a few threads on here and tbh, apart from arguing no one makes a clear or valid point.

(Please don't give me abuse, I'm just looking for people's thoughts - not to be told it's obvious). Thanks 😃

Yes

Zxyzoey31 Fri 03-Apr-20 10:31:25

Of course!

Medievalist Fri 03-Apr-20 10:31:42

I imagine so.

Ninkanink Fri 03-Apr-20 10:31:54

Yes.

OutingMyself Fri 03-Apr-20 10:31:56

It's already here isn't it?

KaronAVyrus Fri 03-Apr-20 10:32:05

More likely a depression

Deux Fri 03-Apr-20 10:32:14

Stupid question, of course it is.

HoffiCoffi13 Fri 03-Apr-20 10:32:29

We’re already in one.

catscatscatseverywhere Fri 03-Apr-20 10:32:31

I think it is. Not sure how UK’s going to cope. Depends on how long the lockdown is going to be. We should be fine if not more than 3 months, but 6 months lockdown sounds dreadful for our wallets.

PurpleDaisies Fri 03-Apr-20 10:32:35

This really is obvious.

Millions unemployed, no money circulating in the economy, massive government borrowing. Hardly going to be ambrosia is it.

goldenorbspider Fri 03-Apr-20 10:34:36

Stupid question, of course it is.

^^ was there really any need?

Deux Fri 03-Apr-20 10:35:31

Yes, every need.

ChipotleBlessing Fri 03-Apr-20 10:36:49

Umm, nearly a million people have just registered for universal credit. ‘Coming’ isn’t the right word.

Bearbehind Fri 03-Apr-20 10:36:55

With the levels of money the government is throwing at this, there has to be some tough times ahead

Plus, so many people being out of work for however long it may be is going to massively dent consumer confidence and that will take a long time to recover

morewineplease1 Fri 03-Apr-20 10:36:58

Honestly... why do people need to be rude!

I'm asking for people's thoughts on the housing market and a recession. I've asked not be rude and the responses are so rude.

I don't know why I bother!

Yes, I think so but maybe not immediately. I think there will be a very large bounce as people buy/buy/buy.

So think the effects may not be felt for a quarter.

Yes

OP, if you genuinely want to know more, google something like ‘introductory macro economics for beginners’ and find some YouTube videos.

maa1992 Fri 03-Apr-20 10:38:46

Yes

morewineplease1 Fri 03-Apr-20 10:38:59

I've never lived through a recession, I just want to know what will happen and what the outcome of this will be for many people.

I don't need people to be so aggressive. It's new for me and I'm trying to educate myself around it. I am on maternity leave right now and worried about my job when I go back to work.

Unless you are under 12, you have loved through a massive recession.

Cornettoninja Fri 03-Apr-20 10:40:05

Yes, more likely a global depression.
