Are people getting worried now that even young healthy people are dying from this?

Terrified, I’m too scared to leave the house. I’ve been disinfecting every shopping we get too. Not ready to die and certainly not ready to be the cause of anyone else’s death.

Stay safe op!

I’m not especially worried about getting the virus. Young healthy people die from all sorts of things, I’m not worried about dying from COVID over and above anything else. Jenny Harries said in the press conference today that young healthy people sometimes die from flu but it is not often mentioned.

Before anyone asks I am observing the guidelines in full and will continue to do so.

To be honest not really because we already knew young people would die of this. I'll follow all the rules but I'm not going to live my life in fear. I wouldn't have done half the things I've done in my life if I was constantly scared of dying. I'm more worried about my parents who are not in the best health and would almost certainly have a very difficult time if they caught this virus.

No, I never thought it only affected the elderly/people with underlying health issues - even though that seemed to be the main narrative for ages on social media. I'm very, very aware no one is "safe" and I've been doing everything I can to avoid catching it.

Not worried about dying at all. Whats death? I wont feel anything, and its over
i'm just worried about losing the loved ones, i will struggle without them

I’m concerned & obviously being very sensible, following all the government guidelines. Still going out for a bike ride, keeping the requisite distance, keeping my lungs as fit as possible!

Try and remain rational. My local paper ran an article on Sunday saying 70 people died of Spanish Flu in ONE DAY in our town. We’re absolutely nowhere near those levels. Two in my town have thus far died so far IN TOTAL of Covid-19.

I’ve just read Lancet’s that latest revised Case Fatality Rate is 0.66% for Covid-19.

What is the point of this thread? People are scared, people know the young people are dying.

What more do you want?

Report

I have health anxiety. This is all I need.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 31/03/2020 20:46

And you bumped it up when no one responded.

What answers do you expect? Yes, I am scared. Why do you want me to be even more scared?

OP, I looked at your other threads.

Please call your GP and ask for help, you seem really anxious and they might be able to help you.

Random posters on MN who are all stressed won't be able to Gove you the help you need.

What’s the point in worrying? Young people die of all sorts of things it’s just not reported. We are all doing our best. I’m trying to enjoy life, take my vitamins, eat healthy food etc be clean but not obsessed. Not quarantining post or washing shopping

Waxonwaxoff0 · 31/03/2020 20:57

No. I don't want to die but in general I'm not one for worrying about things that are beyond my control.

It’s horrible. But it is what it is. Scared? No.

No, not worried at all. I am respecting all the rules and being very careful as I'm shopping for elderly parents. We should expect statistics to continue to rise. The virus is two weeks ahead of us. Two weeks ago we were all still moving freely around.
We are also only just starting to test people more widely than before. As to how the stats regarding fatalities are being reported, we don't have much insight into that, so it's difficult to compare data with other countries or even if there's been consistency around the data compilation here in the UK.

Even if I was certain that I wasnt going to die from it, I hate the thought that I could inadvertently spread it to others through lack of care.

Report
sleepwhenimred · 31/03/2020 21:01

No I'm not scared. There's a million things that could kill me, covid-19 doesn't worry me any more than those. I worry for my elderly relatives and neighbours and for that reason follow all of the guidelines.

Whilst life is completely turned upside down I am trying to enjoy the positives. More family time, no work, less hectic pace of life. The next couple of months would be much worse if we all lived in a constant state of panic.

If we all become absolutely paralysed with fear, then there will be no brave people out there to find vaccines, find and administer ventilators and anti virals. Calm down.

Bluntness100 · 31/03/2020 21:04

The fatality rate is still about one percent. So no. But I clearly don’t want to catch it and take the risk, because as much as I know i have a ninety eight percent chance of surviving (I’m fifty one) I’d rather not chance it. So no I’m not more scared that I was, I’m not scared at all as such, but I’d rather not catch it, so will follow the measures to ensure i don’t.

I'm not worried at all, things kill young people all the time. Have a break from the news and the internet.

Was ok until I’ve just seen a 13 yr old died today 😢

The amount of coverage is partly causing the worry. Young (and older) people can die of anything. If you chose any major cause of death and reported every single instance as breaking news across the country it would freak people out before long.

Moomin8 · 31/03/2020 21:06

I'm concerned. But only because I have dependents, one of whom is a baby.
