Food parcels for the isolated elderly

I have read that food parcels are now being delivered to isolated elderly/vulnerable people? Does anyone know someone who got one? I am wondering over what time period they are being delivered as my elderly Dad hasn't had one yet!

I think it's only for those in the extremely vulnerable group, not sure if he's in that and you've registered?

I received mine but I’m not sure how it is supposed to sustain anyone for a week. I don’t want to sound ungrateful and I think it depends on your local authority, but the things I was expecting/what the government said such as beans, pasta, UHT milk, cornflakes, etc it did not contain.

Teabags wrapped in a disposable plate ( about 30 teabags)

1 small bar of dairy milk
1 small bar of marks and Spencer’s chocolate
1 packet of marks digestives
2 individual packet soups (not boxes just literally 2 soups) one of which was busted open
3 ready made meals
A 5 litre orange squash

This is supposed to sustain someone who can’t leave the house, nor has anyone to assist ( as my son is in exact same predicament as I am) for a week.

Received a free food package 10 days ago.It is supposed to be weekly but to date not received my weekly delivery.Nothing on gov website as to how to chase up progress of next delivery.The letter I received from the government said to contact the local council but they are closed.They have a mobile number but answer machine only.Left message waiting for call back.let you know if any feedback.

My parents got theirs today, they didn't register, my mum thinks they got it because she is currently receiving treatment for a lung condition so maybe GP's give the details? Not sure. Their box contained uht milk, potatoes, cereal, loo roll, tinned soup, bread, biscuits, teabags, coffee, tinned meat and a few other things. They don't even really need it as I'm doing their shopping.

PIL's have had their second already. The first contained bread, UHT milk, tins of beans and tomatoes, potatoes, fresh fruit, fig rolls, pasta, toilet roll, tins of fruit, tea and coffee and other random stuff, quite a lot actually. This weeks one had frey bentos pies, and slightly different selection of tins and biscuits, as well as the usual tea, bread, milk, fruit, etc.

Friends in West Sussex had a lovely box of fresh and delicious "proper" food.

I think each Council is co-ordinating, and is reliant on what's available locally? Could be wrong.

PIL's are trying to cancel theirs, but is hasn't worked yet. They don't actually need it, and don't like/eat the assortment of items. They have donated theirs to a food bank.

We had one, contained uht milk, potatoes, spaghetti, pasta sauce, tuna (which we don’t eat) beans, soup, a couple of individual biscuits, 2 toilet rolls, ready brek, apples, bread, tea, mini soaps, 2 packs uncle bens rice. My son would have loved the one with all the chocolate and orange squash though 😂

I read in the news they are not very nutritionally good, I sent mine a Morrisons box online. also a veg shop box
