Help we are running out of hand sanitiser - where do you buy yours? I am not going to pay a tenner for 50ml bottle so please dont offer this. It breakes my heart that I bought my 3bottles of 200ml for 3quids 2months ago. Should have stocked up on it I know :(

There is very little about. I have to say I’m not using any: just touching as few things as possible outside the house, avoiding touching my face outside the house, and good hand washing. Are you still in work OP?

Is there a specific reason you need sanitiser rather than washing with soap or hand gel? - washing is more effective.

Use washing up liquid and just wash your hands properly. I haven't seen a single hand sanitizer in a shop for several weeks.

Havent seen any cant even get hand wash anymore.

Just use soap and water and leave the hand sanitiser for those who really need it. Far too many key workers caring for vulnerable people without appropriate PPE because Joe Public bought up all available hand sanitiser.

You can buy it from perfume makers, which is where I bought mine, but it is rather more expensive than the hand sanitisers from the supermarket.

I was in Waitrose earlier doing my weekly shop and the lady offered me one as she had several behind the till. Big bottle for £3.49. Worth asking at places?

You don't - not around here, anyway. It's all sold out.

On the upside: soap and water do a wonderful job overall!

it was about £2/3 for 50ml, so not too expensive

I managed to get some from BM the other day, was a new brand.

All good and well saying wash your hands, that’s fine when you have access to soap and water but if you’re out then sanitiser is idea. I take it when I do the food shop.

Superdrug has it online but you have to click & collect i think if you are passing any

What are the brands available in B&M and Superdrug? I'm surprised it's anywhere as my NHS team can't get hold of any at the moment Confused

Superdrug is just their own brand. BM was one I haven’t seen before.

I made some and distilled it into travel bottles for when I go to the supermarket. Other than that, I just wash my hands.

I also found some bottles in Tesco yesterday... I was shocked! Bought some as I haven't been able to find it for weeks. Doubt they lasted long though, there weren't many there.

I bought Aloe Vera gel and rubbing alcohol (both from Amazon) and mixed them together with some tea tree oil.

The Aloe Vera came in pump bottles so I put half the mixture back in those to use and the spare is in the alcohol bottles to be used as refill. There must be more than a litre there altogether and it came to about £11 or 12.

Superdrug said theirs weren't 60% so you need to check

Report
Nixee2231 · 31/03/2020 00:50

You can make your own if you have rubbing alcohol or ethanol and something to dilute it with like Aloe Vera gel or glycerol. You can also dilute it with water and it'll work just as well but it'll dry your hands out.

You just have to make sure there is 70% pure alcohol in the mix.

My Superdrug one says 62%? Apparently 60% and above is fine according to this.

You need the alcohol to kill the virus though

My SIL gave us some Cosmo hand sanitizer sprays - 70% alcohol. I think she bought them from an independent pharmacy but they sell them here;
