Corona symptoms that are NOT fever and dry cough?

I travelled to the Middle East in early February, when we came back both my dd and I came down with the same bug. We had the most god awful taste in our mouths, neither of could not taste anything at all, we both felt sick.
We had D&V for one day and one night, and stomach cramps for over a week. For two nights were not feverish, but sweating as you may do with normal D&V and my dh described us both as very rosy looking. I had a sore throat on and off and my glands are up for three weeks. My dd completely recovered and did so within the first week. My symptoms are persisting on and off but I feel better. The one thing I have had is very red eyes, not sore or infected but just really red raw. I used eye drops to alleviate it.

This morning I read in the Sunday papers that these are symptoms of Coronavirus in younger people. I am shocked. I had no idea at all, and have been carrying on as normal up until the lockdown. I could have infected numerous people, at no point until I read this article did I think this may be coronavirus, and if this is the case, there may be many many more people working and shopping/caring for the elderly/nursing as normal with some of these symptoms.

Have you heard anything about this?

This needs to be publicised as most people with stomach cramps or sore eyes would not consider CV.

Yep. I tested positive 3 weeks ago. Sore eyes, high temp, achey and soooo tired. Also upset stomach. I didn’t have a sore throat but mild headache . I think the publicised symptoms are misleading

This is so interesting as i said on another thread dp has been ill for 2 days now he has recovered. At first i thought hangover as he drank massively but then i thought norovirus now im not sure. His symptoms were:

Violent vommitting all night
Felt exhausted
His eyes were bright red as was his face (i assumed just strain from vomitting)
Rasping for breath said he couldnt get oxygen in
Had a mild cough since last week

The only thing i feel is it cant be coronavirus surely if he only had it 2 days.

After8 how are you feeling now? Flowers

I am worried I have spread it to so many people after How did you get the test? And what from that list made you think at the time it was cv.
The publicised symptoms will be what most people are following, when in fact there are many more that can also indicate this. I did have chest pain, but assumed it was heart burn from being sick!

@After8itsgrownuptime how did you get tested with those symptoms?

after are you better now? I really hope so Flowers
gee sounds just like what we had. It was most strange, as it did not last for the same amount of time as a normal tummy bug, it could not be food poisoning as all had the same, and only two of us were ill. It felt like something quite different, and yes the fatigue was quite something.

Op in the nicest possible way, immediately put the worry about having infected other people oug of your mind. You havent deliberatly infected anyone if any at all no matter what virus you have or havent had. I hope you and your dd are feeling better sounds like an awful illness. Flowers

gee if you are healthy and strong then it is possible he was only ill for two days. My teen dd bounced back really quickly.

Not sure whether to be pleased we may have had it already, or deeply worried about who I may have endangered unwittingly. Or how I would be able to find out, as they are no longer testing.

This ought to be publicised now. Most people would not know to self isolate with different kind of symptoms. Everyone should know this information.

I totally agree more symptoms need to be published as there seems to be more and more symptoms associated with it people arent aware of. I hope they bring out the tests as soon as.

There are quite a few threads running about this. I’ve also been ill but not with the cough and fever. I don’t know if it was just another winter bug or if that was It. I think it’ll be really interesting when the antibody test comes out.

my 5 year old DS vomited for 7 days, not like a sickness bug tho very very different. He was crying in pain and shouting out with the stomach cramps that came in waves. He had a slight temp and very red eyes. I'm sure he's had it.

I am a keyworker (not NHS) with a vulnerable (younger) child, so not currently able to do much of my work, if I could be tested to check, then I could go back much sooner and help our very overstretched team.
Does anyone know if all key workers are tested? Or just NHS?

We need this accurate home test available to everyone!!

My 55 year old dh became ill 13 days ago. It started with a tickly cough. The next few days he had a high temperature and body aches but he was still functioning, more or less (as in he could shower and get out of bed do a few light domestic tasks). On day 5 he came down with excrutiating lower back pain which prevented him from sleeping so I gave him 4 x codeine tablets I had in the house from a previous illness. Days 7 to 13 have seen him with loss of smell, lost of taste apart from a disgusting taste in his mouth which means he can't drink tea or coffee, massive reduction in appetite, very severe headache and the need to sleep for about 18 hours out of 24. Day 13, he's feeling slightly better in every respect except now the lower back pain has returned and I've had to go to a pharmacy to get him co-codamol because he cannot lie down and get comfortable and he still needs to sleep.

My son (16) is also ill. He has a sore throat, fever, glassy eyed look, but so far no reduced appetite!! Maybe he doesn't have covid? it would be a massive coincidence if he'd picked up some other virus though especially as he's been in the house for over a week.

There I was celebrating my 4lb weight loss, because I could not stand to eat anything with such a rancid taste in the my mouth.

We really do need much more testing like South Korea etc.

I read an article yesterday highlighting the differences in publicised symptoms between countries. Ours is a cough or temperature. France for example has an online test with 24 questions, including tiredness, aches, diarrhoea, shortness of breath.

According to the French website, I have it Hmm I just feel a bit under the weather rather than actually ill though.

I also read that the red eyes thing is a symptom of CV. Unfortunately none of us know without an actual test!

No stomach problems though.

My family and I have had similar symptoms. We had a stomach bug that was stretched out over a few days, but I was only actually sick once, the rest of the time I just felt nauseated, very weak and tired/ achey. My partner has had chest pain and a cough. Do you think that could be corona?

I had it early doors and got a drive through swan done (v early March). I also felt like I had been kicked in the kidneys for a day or two. All I can say is that it felt like a mild flu but with pregnancy tiredness If that makes sense with very achey legs. I think it’s different for everyone though. Although now they are not testing, it’s very hard to know if you have had it or not without the test as it’s so similar to a mild flu/bad cold for most of us.

cornishdreams1 · 29/03/2020 18:31

Many of us are not working at full capacity when we could be, it is in the interests of the whole country to get everyone that has antibodies back into work, I would also be delighted to offer much more support knowing I was not putting my vulnerable child at risk.

Both tests surely must be rolled out en masse asap, it is the best way to beat this thing. If the Oxford Study is correct and 50% of us have had this already, that is a game changer for the whole country.

Do the symptoms relapse? Felt rough the week before last with temp, sore throat, cough & headache. DS's best friend had tested positive. Starting feeling okay-ish but this weekend I suddenly felt rough all over again.

Which Sunday paper was it in OP? I had very sore eyes earlier in the week, sore throat and tight chest on Friday and now in bed with massive headache and feeling exhausted. Very occasional cough. One minute I'm telling myself it's just a cold, another minute I'm convinced it's 'it'!

wreck Yes it is looking increasingly like it I would say.

after you were lucky to scrape in for your test, and I am very pleased you are recovering well. My kidneys also hurt, but I assumed I had been drinking too much wine and not enough water Grin

How did you feel when you got the positive test? That must have been quite a moment. I still have a sore throat, on and off stomach cramps and red eyes. Am I safe to continue shopping etc?

We really need some more information on this ideally.
