Hey everyone thought I would start a post to see if there is anyone that is nearly due along with me right now? to chat about we are all feeling with this virus, potential lock down And giving birth at a time like this. I'm 37 weeks on Monday and i was early with my others so thinking I haven't got too long now. A Home birth was already planned just anxious about a possible hospital birth if I catch it and all the complications around all of this. Hoping some people will response that a due in the next few weeks or have just had they're baby this week when all this has started happening. I'm not good with mumsnet if someone could post this and tag me somewhere that it would get more of a response please

I’m having a section in the next couple of hours.

Been in hospital since Monday. Can’t decide if it’s been hideous or in some ways a cocooning bubble. Midwives are all lovely.

My main worries are recovery time and visitors afterwards - without strict guidelines on banning visitors, it’s going to be hard!

I'm eight weeks off a section too! So bit of a wait for me, but really unsure how things will be then. Kind of wish I could have baby now, although I know that's ridiculous as I'm still too early. Just want to say your not alone and good luck to you today livid!

Thanks for moving the post for me. And good luck for today livid!
Thanks for the responses nice to feel a little less alone. I've been staying home with my other two in the hope to not catch it before labour starts! And following advice. Just had my dentist ring me to say I can't go in for my appointment as I'm pregnant. If I get the virus before labour starts then its hospital birth and really want to avoid that. Ovbs I know if it comes to it I will have to and will for babys sake but I've been planning a home birth this whole time so really hoping everything can still go to plan. What a time to be giving birth aye ! Pregnancy is worrying as it is never mind this added on top stress of money as well just all a bit much isn't it.
I'm am also worries about restrictions for visitors ect xx

I'm 31 weeks but not eligible for a home birth due to blood loss with my previous pregnancy. Guidelines have already been sent out by our local authority about 1 birthing partner and only 1 visitor allowed for the duration of your stay in hospital which I find totally reasonable. The thought of everything going on for the rest of my pregnancy just frustrates me really. I know why it's all happening but it's the unknown for everyone I think of how long everyone's lives will be in such upheaval

I'm 31+5 weeks today keep switching between panicking about what state the hospital will be in when I'm in labour and thinking what will be will be and I'll just have to deal with it at the time but it is frightening! Also thinking about my family not being able to meet the baby once she arrives is upsetting but we just have to wait and see whats happening then.

Currently self isolating with my DD and DH is wfh so doing everything we can to avoid catching it. Really missing my mum and dad tho! my mum works in a supermarket and my dad is a delivery driver so I can't see them. Trying to stay positive and very grateful for face time etc so we can still 'see' each other!

Hope all goes well for you today livid you'll be snuggling your new arrival before you know it ☺️
Thanks for starting this thread op nice to be able to talk to you all knowing we're in similar situations 💐

I'm booked for a section next Wednesday but 3 year old DS started with a cough on Monday meaning we are all in isolation for 14 days. Still trying to find out what this means for the section as I'm the first apparently!!

Hoping they can move it a week as that will mean I'm still only just over 39 weeks if they do. If not, will have to face going in myself and work out how on earth I'm meant to get to the hospital!

Oh no @Ready4abreak that's my big fear. That at the time of the c section I'll have to go in alone due to my family isolating. Yes fingers crossed they can move it a week for you, good luck!

I have heard a few people say it will peak in June which is when I'm due! So still mentally preparing for the worst. Good luck hopefully you get your home birth 🤞🏻. Seems like the safest place to give birth atm!

Thanks for starting this thread. Am trying to stay calm but it's so difficult not to feel anxious and low with everything going on. I'm due next Friday.

I'm 31 + 5 today too. I'm really worried. We have no family to watch our children when I go into labour (they're all in long-term isolation) so my current plan is to drive myself to hospital (high risk so no choice really) with baby seat ready in the car and do it all alone. At this point I don't really have any choice!

WorriedMummyNow · 19/03/2020 13:15

We're also isolating now until baby arrives so we can be as certain as possible that we're virus free. I'm really worried about baby and I catching it while we are in hospital though. I also have underlying conditions so I'm scared about what might happen if we do catch it.

As much as this is such a panicky time I'm so glad so many of you feel the same as me and to know I'm not just crazy. I too keep skipping between everything is fine everyone's maybe being a bit over to top (hoping they are i guess) to then panic mode of thinking this is so crazy. Never thought I would be bringing my baby into this I've gone from being fed up with pregnancy and counting the days down because I'm uncomfatable to counting the days down so I can just have her here safely with me, partner and kids. Thanks guys for all responding hopefully we can update as we have our babys and give positive stories. I'm grateful I already planned a home birth now as said above probably want to stay away from hospital. However I also think they will do a wonderful job at protecting people as best they can. Literally just want to give birth already asked my midwife for stretch and sweep as soon as but she refuses until 40 which is fair enough.

@ready4abreak
I've only just realised from reading your message that if we have have suspected symptoms partner won't be able to come hospital with me and I will have to give birth alone! 🙄 such a savage time this is indeed

Hello I'm 40 weeks and 4 days waiting to go into labour. Does anyone who has given birth know of any changes with procedures? Also is there any rules for when you bring your Newborn home?

Hi everyone. I'm 38 weeks today. I've been so calm and excited about birth until this last week and now I'm petrified. No longer able to have a home birth or birth in my local midwife unit so having to go to main hospital and have just found out they are allowing NO visitors to antenatal wards so now I'm petrified about having to stay in alone. What a time to be giving birth eh?

@Abbyd222 how are you doing?
I've just found this thread and wanted to join in as I'm 38+5 today so it can happen any day now.

Where I am (central Scotland) all home births have been cancelled. You might want to check about yours.

I too am terrified that I'll have to give birth alone in case my husband shows symptoms and isn't allowed in the hospital. I had a full blown panic attack about it yesterday. This is my first baby and I suffer from anxiety so I really really need him there.

I hired a doula months ago to be my second birth partner and look after my mental and emotional well-being. She was so wonderful all the times I met with her and I was certain she would keep me calm and relaxed on the big day, but now she's not allowed to be there at all and I'm very upset.

Anyone else doesn’t know who to leave DC with when they need to go into hospital? I have a 4 year old and 2 year old. DH is still working as he is an optometrist and apparently that’s a “key role” to stop people from turning up to hospitals with minor eye problems so i can’t be sure our household is virus free and therefore won’t be able to ask my parents or mother in law to watch my kids when I need to go to hospital :( they are offering but I just can’t risk it as all three are in high risk category...

I feel like I’m just going to have to go alone and DH will have stay with the children...

I have asthma myself and suffer from health anxiety so feeling really scared at the moment

There’s a board on reddit called coronabumpers where mums are sharing their experiences of having babies in hospitals that are also dealing with coronavirus patients.
