Do you think schools will reopen after Easter

My children’s Easter break ends late April. Is it likely they will be able to return? Both have sen so the lack of routine isn’t helpful for them. I’ve obviously explained how serious this is.

For some children that means not finishing their school at all.

No, open again in September

No I doubt it. Think the government have been trying to get us to Easter with schools being open. Then I wouldn’t be surprised if they are closing until September.

Will closing the schools really reduce cases by that much and surely resources will be limited for children in year 11 and 13 to have to do exams a year later.

No I think schools will not go back till August in Scotland.

Nope, think they may open up after the summer holiday, but don't bank on anything ...

no.

I have one in year six so thats me no longer going to a school I have been dropping off at for 11 years, she's going to miss all the leaving primary stuff.

I'm not even thinking about the dd in year 11.

Where have you all seen / heard that it is going to be 6 months please? I have a DD in y6 and that is frankly gutting if she will never return to that school again to say goodbye to all her friends etc before high school. 6 months out for all our DCs is also quite a chunk of formalised education to miss, even if I try to home ed, I'm no teacher...

Nicola sturgeon said she can't promise it'll be after Easter and it's more likely to be after the summer but at this stage she can't make any promises. That was on sky news.

I’m the odd one out here but I think in England schools will only be closed for a month. Wales and Scotland have just announced school closures from Friday but England still nothing. We are always last to do anything it makes me sick.

I have a horrible feeling the schools will close till September. I have no idea what that means for all the year 6/11/13. If the year 11 and 13 students can't take their exams there has been talk with teacher friends that they may make the whole consort retake the year. This makes no sense to me unless all children in every year stay where they are, but then there will be a delay for nursery children starting school and nursery age children starting nursery. One thing I am keeping everything crossed for is that they do not use the mock results for their gcse mark. My son was 2 points off a b in his maths and science and he was worked extremely hard the last few months to try to ensure he actually hits those grades.

I guess it will depend on how the case numbers are after Easter

Gavin Williamson, the Education Secretary is making a statement at 5pm today.

All schools in Scotland and Wales have announced they will close on Friday. It would be astonishing if England didn't follow suit.

My guess is we'll reopen in early June.

I think they will close on Friday and will be looking at a sept start back.

Pretty sure im being made redundant this week, so god knows how this is going to go for claiming JSA. Im a single parent with no hope of getting child care so god knows if they are going to let me claim as i wont be able to work even if i managed to get a job. My current childcare is tied to the school

I have thought they would add a week at the beginning and at the end of the easter hols, then reassess. So off for a month, which is probably more manageable for families. I think it is another wait and see what happens unfortunately

No we'll have even more cases of CV by then and no one will want to chance setting off the rate of infection climbing even more.

I think it is unlikely that they will open before September.
My dcs have exams this year, so I am concerned. However, these are unprecedented times. The health of the nation is at stake
I think that most schools will resort to virtual schooling
