not ovulating after MC?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience: not ovulating after the MC. I check the LH surge with the clearblue wee sticks and there was no smiley faces for the last 2 months. I started checking after my first normal period after the MC. When i got preg (and had the MC at 6 weeks), i had a smiley face at day 9 or 10, which is quite early, so now i start checking as soon as my period finish. I do it twice a day in my 'fertile week' but still nothing.

it's all getting a bit expensive.i know you can get the tests off internet, but when i got the preg tests off amazon, they gave me a false neg result, so now i'm a bit reluctant

anyway, from what i make out, there is no reson why your ovulation should be effected by MC, or am I missing something? I'm 35 and I'm freaking out that my fertility is declining and i might not be able to have another baby (my DD1 is 2.5, maybe we just left it too late...)

any thoughts? anyone else had trouble ovulating after MC?

There is no reason why your ovulation should be affected by MC. When you say you are testing in your fertile week are you sure you are doing it in the correct week. I have never tried to find out when I was ovulating. My friend used the temperature method which would be less expensive. Another friend thought she was not ovulating as no smniley faces but she concieved so they can be wrong. I don't think you have left it too late at 35.
Good luck

Hello I am not sure those OV sticks work either. In my first cycle after MC I used them and had no positives. Your LH surge can be really short, so it might be that you missed it. Don't stress about it - or that can make you not ovulate too! If you are worried, your GP can do some bloods - day 21 progesterone will tell wether you have ovulated. If you ovulate early then you can have bloods done around day 18. Hope this helps x

I wouldn't trust the OV sticks 100% - I didn't get any +ive results when I fell pg with DD!

have you thought about charting?

I'm on my second cycle after MC, and from my charts I can see that while my body has been gearing upto O (I also got 'peak' readings on my CBFM) I haven't actually managed it yet... (no doubt it will be next week when DH is away for work!)

wiosna - I'm in the same boat as you. OV sticks always worked for me in the past, usually got a positive at day 10-11. I had a MMC in March and now I've on my 3rd cycle after MC and no +OPK. I have no advice but I will be reading to see if anyone else does. I had huge problems with my cycles before I had DTs (and needed clomid to get pg) but they seemed to have got back to normal after having them. Now I'm worried that the mc has thrown my body out again in some way.

wiosna - any joy?

I don't think I O'd for either of my first 2 cycles after MC. Have just started cycle 3 & am really hoping for an O this time... One wierd cycle I can understand... 2 at a stretch, but 3??

coincidentally, I had my progesterone levels checked on cycle 2 & they were "a bit low", so they are re-doing them this cycle, might be worth booking yourself in for them (just in case)

oh, and I had DD at 35, and am now getting close to 38, so don't talk to me about freaking out about being too old!!

Hello, I didn't ov in my first cycle after MC...think it's the bodies way of reparing itself and getting back to normal?.

POAS ov sticks never showed anything for me, even before mc, but blood tests confirmed I was ovulating.

Have since started charting, and bought a second hand CBFM, which is great because like you I was worried I had left it too late and I wasn't ovulating, but I am on day 16-17 which is normal apparently.

Good luck, and hope for BFP very soon

Hi, just to let you know i had no + an any opk's that i did after my mmc. This went on for 6 months before the doctor finally took me seriously and sent me for a scan. Follicles were seen but i still didnt get any positives for the next 3 months (no periods throughout this time either)

Im now sat here with my 4 month old dd...after having no periods and no positives for the whole 10 months post mc.

The doctor did tell me that it can take any thing for 3-6 months to "get back to normal" (her words not mine!) and if still having problems to book an appointment by month 6.

Good luck
