Forgive me for popping over from thepregnancy threads. I remember well the months on here I spent beforehand.

However, I need your collective wisdom tonight. I've a meeting with the head midwife tomorrow re. a VBAC (I'm 36 weeks) and since DD was induced after 14 days, one of my questions will be what the policy is on inductions. My due date is from my 13 week scan, which dated me 5 days earlier than my LMP. I was using opks and got the closest I'd ever been to a +ve on day 14 of my cycle.

Is it physically possible to ovulate on day 9 as my scan suggests?

yes, it is possible

early dating scans are very precise

Hmmm. That's interesting. Actually quite a comfort because I had a scan today for placenta praevia and the abdominal circumerence is measuring halfway up to the 95th centile and I'm not very big! To be due 5 days later would make it worse.

Just odd as in the months prior to conception, I was ovulating really late.

Weird cycles. Or just plain unreliable opks.

I found OPK's to be pretty crap, tbh

good luck x

hi hobnob - think we've discussed before but my 14 week dating scan put me as 5 days before what I thought but on the day they think I was ovulating as per scan I had no temp change as was monitoring this closely, no cervical mucus signs and also negative result on my OPK. (Had positive result on it 5 days later though). Lots of friends tell me scans after 12/13 weeks not as accurate as baby growth differs and did have 7 and 9 week scans which put my EDD much closer to my own dates

I'm in the same boat as you cos I'll be going for my 2nd VBAC and they'll be wanting to do a section on me at their version of 40+12/14 when in reality my view will be that I'm only 40+7/9 so too early. I'm not letting them induce me as concerned of the risks but also going to fight them on the dates if it comes to that and not go for section till over 40+14 - think they start scanning you lots at this point to check placenta all working.

I'm not sure on the precision of early dating scans ScaryFucker.

My own personal dates of which I was absolutely certain said (lets say) April 10th. An 8 week scan dated me at April 14th. A 12 week scan dated me at April 18th.

DD was born on... April 10th. Yes, not scientific I know but funny that it was bang on my own dates and not subsequent dating scans, surely.

jojo I saw consultant MW today and expressed my concern and she was fine about it. If I want to be scanned post 41 weeks and keep waiting she said it was fine by her. A relief now, but who knows what I'll feel like at the time? Prob worried about size!
