Had what may have been an implantation dip 8dpo, is 9dpo way too early to test?

I admit that I did. It was negative. Now I'm depressed! When pregnant with my DD, I did get a positive at 9dpo. Got some 10miu tests arriving from Amazon today. Am I bonkers to even try them? I know I should wait but I CAN'T!!!

I have read that it takes at least two days from implantation to get a BFP, so you wouldn't expect a result just yet.

I read on FertilityFriend that the vast majority of BFP's are recorded on 13 dpo, the stats were quite interesting.

When I was pregnant with DD1 I got BFN's on 10 and 12 dpo and the following day got BFP on 13 dpo. I had an implantation dip on day 10 dpo.

With DD2 I had implantation dip 9dpo and BFP on 11dpo, so with me it does seem to take at least 2 days to get a BFP after imlantation.

Like you, I test too early as well! I can't help myself. We are TTC #3 and I've already tested on 9 and 10 and 11 dpo - all negative boo hoo. With your first DD you may well have had early implantation (anywhere from 6dop) which gave you a lovely early BFP.

Good luck to you for this month!!

Thanks Fanjolina, that's encouraging, but I MUST try not to get my hopes up!

Oh, forgot to ask, I was just wondering when you actually felt pregnant?! I can't remember with DD, I don't think I really felt pregnant for a week or so after the BFP but not sure!

With DD1 I had the most aching tender breasts, I felt like I had been kicked in the chest both sides. That was from 8 or 9dpo. As this was my first experience of pregnancy I was quite surprised that my boobs were so sore. I think that is why I started testing early, and I fully expected to see a BFP on the first test based on the breast tenderness. But it wasn't and I kept on getting the BFN's even though my boobs were so sore. By 12dpo I said to DH I must be pregnant, either that or I must have breast cancer! I finally got the BFP the following day. Plus I was temping too so I could see my temps were nicely up and not dropping.

So to answer the question, I 'felt' pregnant from about 9dpo.

Read today on another site 2 - 4 days from implantation to BFP.

That's interesting. In my first pregnancy (lost the baby) I first realised I was pregnant when I got really terribly sore boobs. With DD, I didn't get sore boobs, at all, not once, although I did feel very sick and have strong food aversions but I just can't remember when they turned up. Anyway, right now I don't feel in the slightest bit pregnant, however much I want to. Bum.

Antiquarian it ain't over until AF crashes the party.

Technically it really is still too early to test so don't be too disheartened by the BFN's. How are your temps?

Hi I am 11 dpo and in the same boat - i tested on 9 dpo and 10 dpo both were negative which left me really depressed so I managed not to test today! I am expecting AF on Thursday so will prob test again tomorrow. TTC #2 at the moment, DC1 took a year so already feeling overwhelmed at the thought of this one taking a long time. I started to have sore boobs today and had the map of veins all over my chest and the rest of my body since about 7 dpo so I really thought it would be positive. I also had a vivid dream around 7dpo that the egg was implanting, it felt so real but I am giving it up hope at the moment and wallowing in TTC misery.

Pointsmakeprizes there is still hope! Inplantation can be as late as 12 dpo in which case you wouldn't expect a BFP until 14 dpo.

Like you TTC DD1 took 13 months and I was worried how long for NO2 but TTC DD2 only took 5 months. It was a great relief to know I could do it again.

We're trying to TTC no 3 now and I'm 11dpo today. I had mega sore swollen boobs from 8dpo. Unfortunatley yesterdayt the sore boobs have stopped. I was feeling so certain that this was the month. I have a feeling that all the hormones have gone so just waiting now for AF to show. Maybe the egg fertilised but couldn't implant? Same thing happened last month, too.

Hoping we get our BFP's very soon!!

Fingers crossed for both of you. Still zero pregnancy symptoms here. My early tests show up today I think ... closely followed by my mother-in-law who keeps telling my DH that she's looking forward to more grandchildren, and she hopes we're concentrating hard on getting pregnant! If only concentrating hard would do the job, I think we'd all be having multiple births!

Bum. My early 'one step' tests arrived, supposed to detect 10miu HCG. Negative. I knew it would but I'm STILL depressed.

Anyone not have any symptom? My AF is about 5 days late, but I am too scared to test, as that will be really final if it is a negative. Not really feeling pregnant but then TTC #1, so not sure what it shld feel like!!??

Wld you feel any symptoms in 1st 2/3 weeks?

xx

Thanks Fanjolina, you give me hope that DC 2 won't take as long. Unfortunatley I tested again today and it was another BFN, am 12 dpo now. I still have the sore and heavy boobs but now assuming it is a PMS. My tests were 10miu too Antiquarian, I just feel like if these don't pick it up now then it has to be a no - but I will hold on to the hope that i may get the BFP on 14 DPO!! I remember with DS that i definitely got the BFP really early on - like around 10 dpo. I've been so down today, I wish I hadn't done that to myself at least when you just get AF you can start thinking about ovulation again to take the edge of the BFN!

miss hoohaa I would definitely test - I would say that though wouldn't I? I didn't get any symptoms with DS until about 6 weeks and I tested positive with him very early on.

AHH - too scared. Think I will try and hold out for weekend! This stuff messes with your head.
I am constantly checking for AF, must have been to the toilet for the wipe and check about 10 times today!

Hello again. Really really hoping for you guys, BFN's are so rubbish, early testing is rubbish, AF is rubbish, TTC is rubbish ... until you do and then it's totally amazing, obviously.

Anyway, update on my day. Having done the first test I did then notice the faintest ever line. So I did another one, and the faintest EVER line did appear just before ten minutes was up. So then I thought I wonder if it's an evap line and I've left it too long. SO I put another test in plain tap water to see what happened. No line at all, not even evap. Now, I have no idea if that's scientific, but what I DO know is that I'm glad Mumsnet is anonymous as I would be totally embarrassed to admit to this strange behaviour in real life!

Now all I have to worry about is a) having done no work today as have spent entire day squinting at test strips (don't worry, I work at home) and b) well, I suppose, I think I might have given myself false hope.

Good luck others on this thread, keep me updated! x

Points with DD1 I did have the sore/heavy boobs and had BFN on 12dpo and finally BFP on 13dpo. Will you test again tomorrow or just wait for AF to show or not?

Misshoohaa I too am constantly checking for AF, it feels like it is coming. Boobs no longer tender or sore but still heavy although look like normal.

I am planning not to test tomorrow and wait to see if AF arrives - though I have a stash of epts so I am not sure if I can hold out or not. If I don't get AF then I will def test on Friday. When will you test next Fanjolina?

Antiquarian - hoping you will get a stronger line tomorrow!

I have decided not to test tomorrow unless I see first thing that my temps are up.

I don't know why this didn't occur to me earlier, but when I was temping before for both pregnancies my temp was 36.8 the day before I got BFP and remained at 36.8. (Typically my post ov temps are 36.6 or 36.7)

So I've decided now not to bother testing unless I see a 36.8 temp at about 11 or 12 dpo.

That's my plan. Wondering how long I'll stick to it...

Temp way down and very crampy the witch is on her way. Bummer.

Good luck everyone, come on and give us some BFP's!

Sorry to hear that Fanjolina. My temp is up slightly but I did another test this morning and even I couldn't convince myself there was a line. Bum. I feel totally miserable about it, ridiculously so. Good luck everybody else, let us know how you get on.

Hi ladies,
I was just wondering which day you count as ovulation? Is it the day of/after a positive opk? When is 13dpo if I had a positive opk on day cd20?
Antiquarian - I know what you mean about squinty eyes...
Good luck to all.

Report
FanjolinaJolie · 01/10/2009 14:26

TheOwl - hard to pinpoint ovulation day exactly unless you are temping, but you could hazard a guess that it is the day after your positive OPK.

If you had a positive OPK on day 20 lets say you would have ovulated on day 21 (guessing here). So day 22 would be 1 day past ovulation (dpo). CD34 would be approx 13dpo for you give or take a day.

Good luck to you!
