shall we wait?

Hi all
Me and my husband have decided to start trying in December 09. We would have enough saved to be able to have least 6 months off work, hopefully a full year.
We are off to America in March and after speaking with friends one of them has suggested I wait until we come back. Due to the fact, if I was to have a miscarriage it would not only ruin the holiday emotionally but the fact that you have to go into hospital maybe have an anaesthetic, I might not get fit to fly to come home.
These we all things I had not thought of. I think the excitement of a family had just taken over.
Do you think my concerns are justified? It all seems to be a lot of ?what if?s?. I really do not want to put off trying for a baby; I might not even fall before March. But I also do not want to ruin my husbands and friends Holiday.

Personally I would wait until you get back, but then I have a complicated obstetric history with infertility and miscarriage. For most of my lucky friends (and the majority of couples tbh), who just have sex, make baby, and baby appears 9 mths later they would probably tell you not to worry!

It is a very personal decision and really depends on what kind of person you are too - would you worry if you were in the 1st trimester and having to do a long haul flight? What if you have dreadful MS or are just permanently exhausted?

Would waiting 3 more months matter?

You could start trying in the States and then if you fell pg there call the baby America !

Good luck x

Sorry, I am a bit confused - is it just a holiday to the US or are you travelling there for 6 months to a year?

I also have a history of miscarriage and other problems, and I wouldn't put of TTC. I know that even with my history there is still more of a chance of everything being fine with a pregnancy than not, and you have no reason to assume this would be the case for you either.

You are right, there are so many what ifs - you might not be pregnant by March, if you are you will probably be fine, if you were to miscarry this would be devastating regardless of where you are when it happens.

I'd do what you want to do, and not dwell too much on the 'what ifs' as nobody can predict what will happen!

Countrybump, it is just a holiday to Vegas for 5 days.

My head was just in gear for decemeber, we have bought the books and waited til we were financially ready. You are right another 3 months is nothing, it just seems so far away

If it's just a five day holiday, then why wait to TTC? I'd just go for it! Of course a miscarriage would spoil the holiday, but the chance of you conceiving before and then miscarrying durig a five day holiday has to be pretty remote surely?
