Coming off the pill in order to TTC

How horrific is it?

I've been on the pill for 8 years and the one I've been on for the last 2 years has meant I don't even get periods. I should be coming off the pill this time next month.

Do you get a really bad period and then your system gets back to normal?

How long does it take to get back to normal? I've been told to wait a couple of months before TTC which is what we're planning at the moment but we're in the process of moving house and will be DIYing a plenty so don't want to come off the pill if it means I'll be in agony whilst trying to strip wallpaper (I have a bad back and used to waddle on my 'on' days).

Any experience?

Thanks

I think it's a bit random. I had normalish periods right from the start. (I had been a bit worried about that side of it as used to have horrific ones before I went on it).

That's what I'm concerned about. When I was totally fake hormone free I used to waddle more than 8 month pregnant people because of the effect it had on my back but, that's over 8 years ago and when I have 'pill periods' I only got it a bit.

Don't want to be in pain or stressed when I need to be 'in control' of re-doing an entire house. DH has told me he's not concerned about any mood swings I may have (I asked for that in writing) but more about the physical effects.

It's so hard to know. It may be that you have changed and your periods have changed with that, IYSWIM. I was on various pills for about 15 years, so I guess maybe my body just changed to accommodate better periods in that time, but I never knew all the time it was being masked.
