At 38 I would love baby number 4, but admittedly dont have the energy I once did....I dont want to regret leaving it, as time is ticking on....are there other mums out there in a similar predicament

I have just had DC3 at the age of 42. I think 38 is young!

Just got pg with #3 at age 38. It's not that ancient really, you will bring poise and maturity instead of boundless energy. Is your dh / dp keen though? You will need his 100% support.

I'm 38 and we're just going to start trying for a second baby......go for it!

I'm almost 39 and want to ttc within the next few months. The way I see it is that you have more life experience. Good luck!

Absolutely 100% go for it!

There are a couple of threads on here for women 40+ who are either having babies, or trying - you're a spring chicken!

Thanks for all the messages of support - its reassuring to have other mums say "yes its ok, go for it if you want". My husband is keen if I am, hes willing to do his bit, but knows ultimately its me doing the hard work, prior to and after the birth....I worry about whether my husbands job will stay secure, and god alone knows how our house will accommodate another little one and all the luggage that comes with it....I do know however, that no one would ever have a baby if they waited til they were entirely secure, and that all a baby really needs is the basics, love, warmth, food etc and that a fancy nursery doesnt matter....I really am going to have to lose a stone in weight first, though, then its heartburn, gaviscon, hearburn all the way!!!!!LOL

Hi,

I had my DS (DC1) at 38 and DD at 39 and now have a 2.2 yr old and an almost 6 month old. Pretty knackered but DD didnt seem like such a shock to the system for some reason. Think I was more confident so after 3 4 shouldnt be much of a change wink

Go for it you can catch up on sleep later!

I had my daughter when I was a month shy of 39 (and am trying for another at 44, though I have had 2 m/cs in the process) and I honestly didn't feel any different to when I had my son at 25. I'm probably fitter now TBH.

Of course it's up to you and age doesn't have to stop you but why not adopt one that doesn't have warmth, food, love?

I had my first at 38 and second at 41!

go for it

I had first at 41, second at 44, so I don't know what it's like to be a younger mum with loads of energy! Yes I do feel more tired second time around, but this is probably more due to the demands of a 3 year old as well as a newborn rather than because of my age. Best of luck!
