Hi there

I've posted on here before as I've had three very early mcs in the past year, all around 4 weeks.

I have a 3.5 year old DD, so I know it can be done!

Anyway, saw my GP a couple of weeks ago and am having blood tests next week, but continued ttc this month and started feeling symptoms in past day or so (sore boobs, nausea, tiredness, frequent urination). I'm on CD24 today. Did a test this morning and got a pretty strong positive. Thing is, I'm sure I'll start bleeding in the next few days as per the previous times.

I'm taking vitamin B6 in case it's a progesterone problem and also low dose aspirin in case it's a clotting problem.

My first (successful) pregnancy was fine really, although afterwards my placenta showed some weird stuff so I'm wondering if this is causing problems now.

Just wanted a bit of advice/support if anyone else is in the same boat!

Thanks

No idea I'm afraid, maybe speak to your GP and see what they suggest? Has someone advised the B6 and aspirin?

Keep all my fingers crossed for you

Good luck

Firstly congratulations wow a bfp that is ace
Secondly you must be dreading the next few weeks I have lost 4 now at various stages from 6 to 12 weeks. I also have a ds so I know I can do it too. See we were clever at some point!
The thought of a bfp is a mixture of pure exhileration and utter terror.

From all the advice from my consultant there is nothing other than what you are doing to do, unless they come up with a firm reason in all your bloods. Mine came back fine, they say that is usually the case. No4 did have a genetic problem however and would never have been able to live full term regardless of what I had done which helped in a weird way.

My consultant said the asprin has been found to have success, who knows if it helps allay some small fear it is worth it. The chemist suggested the dispersable ones and said it was better for 'asprin babies'

If I were you I would go and see your gp and make sure that you have early scans and as much support as your local epu can give you.
I will so be keeping my fingers and toes crossed, good luckxx

I hope my story gives you some hope. I've had four mc, have two children and now am 32 weeks pregnant again. If it's happpened once, it CAN happen again.

A strong positive at this stage sounds good. Hopefully you'll get through the next few days ok. The next few weeks will probably be horrible but I've found it helpful to just try to take one day at a time. Try and get a scan at around 8 weeks as a heartbeat and a fetus of 8 weeks size corrolates with about a 97& chance of it all going well. (Personnaly, I'd avoid a 6 week scan as even if you see a heartbeat then, the chances of it all going wrong are still relatively high compared to 8 weeks.)

Good luck!

did you start the aspirin while ttc?

i have been advised to try it but doc doesnt seem to know when is a good time to start!

Hi Shyla01

I know what you mean, every little twinge is a nightmare.

I think my fears may be about to come true. I went to the loo a couple of hours ago and I think (although hard to be sure) there was some very light brown spotting when I wiped (sorry if TMI!). I'm on CD26 today, the same CD as when I started spotting last month and then mc'd.

I have my blood test appt next week and have made a follow up GP appt too, so will ask her for a referral I think.

I did start aspirin whilst ttc, around the time of ovualtion, although some things I've read say to use it for two or three cycles prior to ttc. Who knows?

I wish you lots of luck. Feel free to PM me!

Hi mlm
How many weeks are you now? Could be just a bit of spotting - some people have this when af is due but are pg.
I have had a cp and a mc and am still ttc and want so much to be pg but on the other hand will be so scared when it happens. Sept would have been my due date for my last mc and want so much to be pg again. I am due af mon so fingers crossed.
I hope af stays way for you. Fingers crossed. xxx

Hi Angelfifi

I'm only 26 days at the mo, and this is exactly the time my previous mcs have happened. There's obviously something which takes place around this time which causes me to mc. From what I've read, the embryo is still burying itself in the uterus at this stage, so perhaps it can't fully attach.

Good luck with ttc - as you say, getting a BFP goes from being a wonderful experience, to being something to dread almost.

All best!

If you are spotting then maybe its implantation, have you had anymore spotting?

Report
messylittlemonkey · 17/07/2009 16:56

The spotting was so light I wasn't sure if it was there or not, but I'm paranoid!

I suppose it could be implantation spotting.

I still have my pg symptoms, but in past mcs, the symptoms have continued when the spotting started which usually lasts a couple of days before the heavier bleeding starts and then symptoms go.

Maybe I should be a bit more positive!

please stay positive mlm.

i do know how crap it is and i too have not let myself belive that this pg will be any diff to the last 3.

but dp said something to me today that made me think

he said 'if this thme only lasts 8wks aswell then i am goin to enjoy every day of the next 4 weeks. otherwise what is the point?'

dont get me wrong. i know you cant jus switch off the bad thoughts/feelings but i am going to make an effort to relax as much as poss and just go with the flow.

or as my mil put it
'it's all in gods hands so dont waste your energy stressing!

Hi there

Hope you're still hangin' on in there Shyla01!

My fears on Friday were founded, although I only had a small amount of brown spotting for a day or so and it has now stopped. This is different from previous mcs. Only thing at the mo is that I have a bad cramp in my left side/back. This is something which I have only ever had in the cycles when I've mc'd. As you rightly say though, what will be will be, no point in stressing. Trouble is, the longer I go, the more I start to think this might be it (previous mcs have all happened by 4.5 weeks and am just over 4 weeks today).

Well, onwards and upwards!

mlm i really really hope that you are ok.

have you been to see anyone about the bleeding? i know they would not be able to prevent anything from happening but maybe you could get come reassurance? some blood tests or something? or would you rather just let it be?

i'm doing ok. my worries wont really start til i get to about 8 weeks. 2 of my previous mc have been missed and both times lo has stopped growing around that time. i am going to try for an early scan around 9 weeks.

i know i will never relax until i get a baby in my arms though.

life can be a real bitch.

i'm here if ever need to vent.

hope you have some good support in rl too.

Thanks for the support!

I haven't had any bleeding (if you can call it that) since early Sunday and still have all pg signs. Did another HPT yesterday and got a strong + straight away, so it's still hanging on in there.

I'm such a pessimist, can't help but think that the whole thing's just slightly delayed this time. Don't think I'll be able to relax for a few more weeks (at least my mcs have all been early so I expect them to happen around now and don't have to wait like you, Shyla01). Still, every time I go to the loo I expect to find blood!

Chin up!

Hi Shyla

Symptoms sounds promising! Did you not have symptoms the times when you mc'd?

I'm doing okay thanks. No bleeding since last weekend and like you, symptoms are strong. Feel sick quite a lot of the time, have v. sore boobs and sore gums too(!).

I haven't got this far with previous pgs (apart from successful one obviously)so am hoping things will continue as they are, but still very nervous about making any plans, telling anyone or generally getting excited. don't want to tempt fate, even though I don't really believe in it!

Good luck and stay in touch!

Hope you don't mind me joining in here with you?

I have just got a positive test, but having had 3 miscarriages (at between 4 and 6 weeks) in the last year, I too am a little unsure about it this time.

My last miscarriage in May was horrible, but here I am pg again, so hoping that you can handhold with me too?

I have just had the blood tests with dh to look at any reasons for the recurrent miscarriages, but appointment for results not til september anyway.

How are you all holding up?

Hi shyla01, I am 4 weeks 2 days today, so very early yet. My "normal" m/c date is 5 weeks 1 day. It seems strange to be able to say that! So that is my first goal to get passed.

How about you? how many weeks are you now?

shyla - "good" to hear you are feeling unwell! hope that it is signs of a strong pregnancy progressing for you.

Messylittlemonkey - any update from you? how are you doing?

I am starting for feel vague nausea, and pg tests are slightly darker so I am planning on going to gp tomorrow to ask to get serial betaHCG levels measured for reassurance.

These weeks are hard.

Hi there

Congrats Willitbe and welcome to the thread!

Glad to hear you're unwell Shyla (in the nicest possible way!). I too have been feeling very sick for most of the time, even waking in the night feling bad. At first it seemed to be worse after food, but now it's more or less constant. As you say though, nausea is a good sign.

I'm 6+2 weeks today. Saw GP for the first time yesterday. Have been holding off going as I've been convinced this is all going to go t*ts up, but my previous mcs have been around 4 weeks, so for me this is quite a bit further than before. Anyway, GP didn't seem at all interested in previous mcs. I've got a booking in appt with the midwife in a fortnight and will try to get a scan asap after that.

Still haven't told anyone except a couple of v. close friends. Putting off telling parents and in laws as that will put us under pressure because they'll be so excited.

Well, my fingers are firmly crossed for us all!
