Welcome everyone from the old 'Mid 30s and TTC for the first time' thread. And welcome newbies too. Don't mind the poster in the corner dipping pregnancy test sticks into her glass of gin.

Hey Ski - congrats! I am so excited for you. This news is definitely going to be what keeps my chin up if this month is not the one for me, I'd got myself into a real "third time lucky" POV, now I can get through to at least 6 happily!!!! And keep drinking gin.

Fingers crossed for you laurielou too

Bad luck Skater - are you temping - do you know for sure that you are ov'ing?

Aussieng · 22/06/2009 23:00

I wasn't advising you to keep drinking gin btw...

...I was saying that I'm going to...for now...

Slainte everyone.

When are you going to test Aussie? Its getting knife edge around here.

skaterrr I read that your LP is always more or less the same length, so if your cycles are different lengths, then the difference is the day on which you ovulate.

So basically try to gauge when you ov. I've tried the temping, but doesn't work so well for me. But I now have a new shiney pink thermometer so will give it another go.

Jaysus, I'll definitely be snorting babydust through a rolled up fifty note soon...
Anyone want a snifter?

Report
skihorse · 23/06/2009 08:03

I bought a brand new bottle of gin less than two weeks ago. Was this also a pg trigger?

Report
SkaterGrrrrl · 23/06/2009 08:45

PMSL at sniffing babydust through a note.

I might just get a kit and test to see when my "2 days" are. This will also satisfy the overwhelming urge to POAS.

Have a good day, gin hounds!

hi donttry - I'm no-where near testing. I'm on the A B game at present [knackered emoticon]

OK so "to do list"

  • Book flight for 31 weeks hence
  • Buy really expensive bottle of gin
  • Buy mooncup or bumber bag of tampax
  • ????

Knock, knock, can I come in?

ski this is really very exciting news, CONGRATULATIONS!! New bottle of gin was definitely a trigger.

Well, still no AF for me - CD 32. But last month AF arrived day 33, so we'll see. I'd like to know one way or the other by the weekend as DP & I are off for a weekend away - HURRAH. OK, so the timing in my cycle could be better.............

Decided against doing a shoulderstand in yoga last night, just in case, & lay with legs in the air instead (not for the first time in my life . But then rather embarrassingly I fell asleep at the end & woke myself up with a jump & a snore. I'm hoping I can blame this on PG & not the onset of - memory woman, what's the illness where you just fall asleep?

Jaysus, sleeping, memory loss - hope I am PG, otherwise I'm turning into my Nana.

laurielou according to the charts I conceived the night of my yoga class...

I'm going to hang around here if you lot don't mind because you make me laugh every single day!

Report
laurielou · 23/06/2009 09:20

Oh crap, really? I'm usually exhausted after yoga & its all I can do to drive home, shower & slip into bed (fast asleep before 10 pm).

Apart from a couple of weeks ago when for some reason after yoga I felt "energised"..........

Once again, oh crap!

Report
skihorse · 23/06/2009 09:28

laurielou It was AFTER a step class too. It was definitely not the A-game that night, in fact it was probably more special needs secretarial college.

Report
laurielou · 23/06/2009 09:34

You did yoga & step on the same night? Are you mad?

at "special needs secretarial college"

Why do I TTC, then as AF approaches go into full on panic mode, then feel sad when AF arrives? Is this normal? Or do I need to leave the gin palace (shoeless, smudged mascara, professing love to everyone & staggering) & get on an insanity bus to You'llneverconceivebecauseyou'rementals-ville?

VeryAnnieGertie · 23/06/2009 09:44

Oooh what a lovely new place! A palace indeed!

Ski - Yay! yay! yay! I am however slightly purturbed by the mention of the bottle of gin you bought two weeks ago - are you saying there is gin still in it?

laurie I do believe the gin palace is actually the final destination on the insanitybus. Or the starting point. I think the route goes round and round anyway.

We need a "full panic mode" emoticon.

Skatergrrrl & donttry, what really annoys me about the ov thing is that if your LP is constant but your cycles vary it could blimmin' be any time! - and I'm not yet willing to temp cos that would admit we are actually TCC rather than simply going to have an accident...

Report
skihorse · 23/06/2009 09:49

I like the new gaff, lovely shade of cream on the walls.

ski I'm soooo giddy for you!! I'm jumping up and down in my chair and really really restraining myself from going all "hun"like and hugging you!! Yay!! Oh and damn right you're sticking round here. If you go anywhere I'll hunt you down and paint your house pink. Remember, we know where you live [threatening emoticon]

I had a Pimms last night. Bloody lovely.

skihorse · 23/06/2009 10:06

Cosmo it's not just me, there are two others around here (I'll not mention names) who need to put the gin down, wee on a stick and "man up"!

I'm still not 100% convinced truth be told. This is our 8th cycle of trying and I think part of me had accepted that I had a hostile environment.

Geekylass · 23/06/2009 10:16

Ski - hooray!! Congratulations! Breathes sigh of relief - now I'm not the only senile mum-to-be on this board are you in shock?

Am going to the doctor's tomorrow to let them know I tested positive for baby. I know it's daft, but I am nipping out in a minute to buy another stick to pee on just to make sure that nothing has happened. Will let you know how I get on.

Will leave you now to your shortbus antics - please, someone have a drink for me!

VAG according to the stern voice of Fertility Friend, my luteal phase is NOT REGULAR which is of course a sign of my inaccurate temperature taking (inaccurate? Don't I just put the thermometer in my mouth?). I think it can vary, despite what they say. Some months I ovulate on Day 13, some months it's Day 18. Some months my luteal phase is 11 days, some months it's 8. Or 10. See what I mean about my eggs and DB's swimmers being locked in a moody avoiding stand-off? Effing irksome, since we're not 'together' all month and have to arrange our conjugal visits, like a pair of old scrotes rocking up to Wandsworth nick.

ski and geeky you have to stay! If everyone leaves as soon as they're up the stick I'll be left here on my own, making increasingly angry and morbid gin slings. I've already had to slide off one thread where everyone else got pregnant apart from me. Is like being the last to be picked at netball. but with the advantage of knowing that you can have a drink afterwards

laurie is narcolepsy. I deffo have that, especially around 3.30pm.

Today is the day we're meant to exchange on our house. I am not holding out hope of it happening, but if it does DB and I will go over the road to the cocktail bar and get lashed, and the combo of alcohol and serious 25 year financial commitment will do the trick...
