41 and have PCOS, a late start on the pregnacy front. Taking Chlomid and am at 150g (3rd cycle), regular scanning reveiled 3 good follicles which had disappeared by day 17 and a fluid spill so it all looked good until the blood test on dy 22 which they tell me is non ovulatory and bleeding that started on dy 22 as well and is red blood and feels periody but not so bad. The bleeding happened last month too. so..
could they be wrong about the ovulation?
Did anyone elso get this kind of bleeding, thought it might be implan.. but if no eggs ..?
One of the problems with polycystic ovaries associated with PCOS is that there are multiple cystic follicles. Some are dormant, others contain eggs and yet more secrete hormones. Many such follicles do disappear - only to be replaced by further cystic follicles.
I unfortunately do not think they are wrong about there being non ovulation (especially if a blood test was done as well). Was wondering if they have done regular tests to measure both your LH and FSH levels (clomid can increase LH levels) together with your progesterone levels. You should be monitored with both blood tests and ultrasounds whilst on clomid. After six cycles of such treatment they should be looking at other methods.
What do you mean by a fluid spill?.
I would start asking them questions about clomid and whether they think its actually having any effect. It is not always suitable for all PCOSers to take hence me saying this.
PCOS is not an absolute barrier to conception by any means but feel they need to start looking into other methods now. Other things that can be tried in the event of clomid not being successful include surgery and injectible drugs.
I wish you well, you will need to be persistant with them in order to get answers.

I had not realised that follicles could develop and pop with no eggs inside. The fluid spill I meant was when she scanned me the nurse said she saw fluid from the follicle so was sure they had released eggs.
Anyway I have only done 3 cycles they do a day 21 check to confirm ovulation-only one of which was positive. The doc says this is pretty typical given PCOS and age combined and that really we sHould head for IVF. I am worried about the bleeding but need to see if it happens again this cycle. Feel fairly dispirited really!
