What could be the cause of the mystery cramps???

Am on my 8th cycle of TTC. From the 1st cycle onwards, I have experienced cramps in my uterus (I presume!) that come and go for about a week and a half before my af arrives (not every cycle - 5 out of the 7 so far). They aren't af pains as these start the day before and are heavy dull constant aches. These cramps are light/tingly sensations, not painful as such but it just makes me more aware of that area. When I first got them I had never even heard of implantation cramps (was very ignorant of all pg symptoms - ahh the bliss of ignorance!!) so I don't think I am imaginging it. I mentioned it to a nurse (who knew I am ttc) during a smear and she didn't even try to answer/offer an explanation. Just wondered if anyone else had ever had this?? Or if anyone has any ideas what it could be??

Thanks in advance!

Would ask your GP to refer you to a gynae at a subfertility unit for further evaluation. Not really surprised that the practice nurse was not all that forthcoming - they are generalists and some are not at that knowledgeable at all about gynae problems.

Pains mid cycle, particularly if they are consistent and long standing could be indicative of endometriosis. You need to determine the cause of the pains you're having.

If your menstrual cycle is painful as well after these cramps I would certainly seek such medical advice sooner rather than later.

Thank you Attila. I think you're right - I just need to get it checked out don't I. Have been ignoring it for long enough. Didn't realise it could be a symptom of endometriosis though as thought that that was just getting really horrible and painful periods. Will get myself to the GP for a proper check up.
