OH no I have pcos very badly

About 5 cycles can't really remmeber

BUT you must be monitered for follicle growth by scanning

DH says it was 3 or 4 cycles

I'm a bit concerned about side effects and stuff. Aside from the possible follicle growth what else could go wrong?

I have to have a scan to see if I have PCOS but I'm pretty sure I don't as I've had a scan not too long ago and they would have noticed then I presume.

Don't want to cause any unnecessary worry but i was prescribe something v.similar after a laparoscopy, if it didnt work they were going to put me on the chlomid, however, the medication caused the onset of a horrible ovarian cyst that had to be removed by another laparoscopy, I am thus very skeptical but everyone is different and i know lots of people who have had v.successful chlomid experiences.

I am now 9+weeks pg after 2nd lap.

Chacha, its great to hear you are pg - I remember us both on the ttc threads. Good luck with the next few months.

popadopolis, I was given clomid - 50 mg - as I wasnt ovulating. Second cycle I got pg but unfortunately miscarried. I waited a few months and then started on the clomid again an got pg second month again. This time the pg was fine and the product of this pg is now snoozing away happily in her cot . Having tried for 2 years to get pg without clomid, I think it was brilliant for me and I am sure I would not have had my dd without it. Side effects were weight gain (I seemed to gain almost immediately) and mood swings (like pmt but worse and often), altohugh I didnt like the side effects, in hindsight they were a small price to pay.

More questions regarding clomid! Went to docs this morning and still have questions. He told me that there were no real side effects apart from possible cycsts on my ovaries. However I feel that it would be better ask you ladies that have taken it and see what you say as you probably know better!!

I'm not concerned about mood swings (although Dh is!) but more about other side effects especially significant weight gain. Can anyone offer any info/advice?

Popa, I took it, fell pg with DS first cycle - I had BAD ovarian pain, but only one egg - it can hyperstimulate your ovaries - will you be having follicle tracking to check you're not producing lots of eggs?

Gotta go and have lunch with DS - will write more later xxxxxx

There are side effects with every drug, but they don't let you take clomid for long, so they do limit those effects. I didn't find I gained weight (well, except baby weight!!!) - if you're not ovulating, it's often a good way to get you to.

I did gain weight and felt bloated but that could have been all the comfort-eating! It wasnt a huge gain as I got pg so quickly and any gain was worth the eventual outcome .

I took 50mg clomid in 2003. I took it for 2 months (cycle days 2 to6) and got pregnant the second month. This pregnancy ended in miscarriage. I then had to have a 2 month wait while things settled down.
I then took it again for 2 months (same dosage, same cycle days) and got pregnant again, which resulted in a healthy pregnancy. I didnt have any side effects although I knew when I was due to ovulate coz I felt like my lower abdomen was going to explode, a feeling that I didnt get every month when i wasnt taking clomid.
My oldest son is 4 and a half and he was conceived normally but it just wasnt happening with baby number 2. Don't worry, clomid in my eyes is a miracle drug and I wouldnt hesitate to take it again myself if I need to. GOOD LUCK.

Thank you ladies for all your comments. I feel better about taking it now. I guess it is worth it if it means having a special little person in the end!! I may call on you again in the future but I am reassured for now!! Thanks!
