OK so been TTC for last 20 months maybe more.....

Nothing was happening so for the last few months I have attempted to target the days I'm more likely to OV. My cycle ranges from 26-34 days on average.

What I was doing was dividing the two numbers in two and doing most of my bedding in between those dates. Got DP to work his shifts around it too :-)So my last CD1 was 21st March...... I bedded last on 8th April.....DP been working lates since

Then I was thinking last night that if you OV 14 days before your period is due this doesn't work out at all and I have missed it again!!!!

Then I grabbed my book out and it said 14 days after your CD1.

I'm confused and feel silly for ttc for so long and not working this out earlier.

I did try OV sticks but agreed with DP that I would stop as getting a bit obsessive IYKWIM

There's no way you can know when you OV without the OV sticks, or a temperature chart (www.fertilityfriend.com) because although they say 14 days after whenever - that's just the average, and most people are a few days out... You could try scrutinising your cervical mucus! If it looks like raw egg white then you're OVing!

thank you, Unfortunately I can find no change in my cervical mucas at all all month. I also monitered body temp but I had no change.????

Is it possible that I'm not OV'ing??

The only big change I would say is my breasts get very sore but by then I think it's too late.

Aww I was like that! I was oving but I just couldn't tell, temp was the same or all over the place and the mucus seemed egg whitey most of the time!...We just had to exhaust ourselves and do it lots... thank god that's over with! Maybe OV sticks are the best idea after all!

I have no info on the ovulating sticks or mucus, but all I know is that on both of my children I concieved imediatly after my period (ds - 1 day later, dd - 2 days later) So if I had been following the norm I would probably not have concieved. My advice try all times of the month. Good luck and try to relax. Easier said than done I know.

You probably ovulate between 10 and 16 days before your period starts, as the luteal phase (gap between ovulation and menstruation) is 10-16 days in most women.

If you do temp you really need to do it (a) at the same time each morning, or as near as you can, (b) after at least 3 hours' sleep (c) before you do anything else (sit up, talk, get out of bed). And use a sensitive thermometer (preferably a fertility one rather than a fever thermometer). Or you could try temping vaginally -- have never tried it myself but I know women who could never see a temperature change temping orally who say it worked for them.

You might also try reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. There's some fascinating information in there.

Can't offer any real practical advice here, all I can say is when I was TTC, I used the ov sticks, started from about day 10 and just carried on until I got a positive result and believe it or not, they worked, very first month of using the test kits I fell pg and am now 30 weeks! HTH

Sorry, also did the feet up the wall after we "did it", just for 20 mins whilst watching telly!! Not sure whether that helped or not, but its a lovely way to relax afterwards !

I found them very worth while, think I needed to do them for a total of 8 days before I got a positive result, so try not to get downhearted if it takes a while, I found my cycle changed monthly after coming off the pill after 14 years. And as for your DP starting to feel used , tell him to make the most of it, just the thought of "it" now exhausts me and my DP feels neglected now!!! Men!!! Good luck and keep us posted!
