Hey. I have decided finally to book an appointment to see if it has any effect on my fertility. Another reason for going is to try to sort out my feelings of stress and anxiety.

So - which would be better for me? Acupuncture or reflexology?

reflexology worked a treat for me and I conceived in about 4 weeks after a year of trying - it did hurt though (in the bits I had problems with) but I felt brilliant afterwards! She also made me detox as well which may have helped - though I never quite gave up wine !

This is what I read, that it may hurt and also that you may leave feeling emotial and overwhelemed! What exactly is it like?

There's a woman who comes to work to do reflexology so I'll ask if she does fertility reflexology perhaps?

Also what are the costs on average? I think she charges £25.

I can't remember what I paid for it - maybe about £15-20 for an hour. It is called "sweet pain" - but it made me practically jump off the bed! Supposedly the bit they put pressure on also sweats when theressure is applied!

I did get quite emotional and cried afterwards on one occasion.

She worked a lot on my adrenal gland (possibly hurting due to stress etc) and my fallopian tubes were a bit sore hen she got to that bit of my foot. She also though I might have an iron deficiency so I ate loads of spinach and watermelon.

Whatever she did it seemed to put me in a better place.

Haven't needed it this time round - got pregnant first go

Is it best to wait until after your period to go? Ie not go between ovulation and period?

I don't think I even thought about it - just decided one day to go! She didn't know at the first session that I was there because of fertility.

reflexology has been amazing for me and is the highlight of my week. Having said that it hasn,t actually worked yet but fingers crossed. It certainly worked for a friend of mine. It doesnt hurt and is blissful but I tried acupuncture too and that surely did hurt. I know which I prefer! I pay 25 pounds per session. There are specialist baby and fertility reflexologists so check around for a suitable one.

I had acupuncture and I think it helped me a lot. I had it in the run up to a successful IVF (now have a 1 year old DS) but there is a lot of evidence that it can help improve IVF rates and also fertility in general. I haven't had reflexology so can't comment on that. Good luck!

I have reflexology - it is nice and I like the woman a lot but not had any effect yet and been doing it for 5 months. Am trying acupuncture later this month.

Hello, I am a reflexologist and thought I would give you a little bit more info if you are interested keep reading. Reflexology can be done on your feet or your hands and even on your ears if some find someone specialist enough. People who respond well and are comfortable with touch find that reflexology can work best for them rather than a treatment such as acupunture where their is limited amounts. It is best to look at diet and cut out processed foods whilst having reflexology as it can help promote the removal of toxins in your system. It is also excellent for stress and the therapist will be actively encouraging you to relax and unwind, and whilst you can chat during sessions it is welcomed if you lay back and close your eyes. It can be a little uncomfortable if a particular area is being worked on which may relate to areas you have issues in but we cant diagnose or say you have a particular condition. It is true that some people can be emotional afterwards as this is part of the bodies healing response, other reponses could be mild headache or needing to go the the toilet more frequently but these responses should pass within 24 hours. I will keep an eye out incase anyone has anymore questions which I may be able to help on.

Thanks Lizzy, I missed your post and only just saw this.

I have just had my first hour of reflexology. Not at all painful or uncomfortable. I LOVE having my feet touched anyway.

I cried though.

Made me realised how much pent up anxiety and upset I carry around with me all the time.
