Conception

DH has just made me very happy by saying he wants a baby!!!

Its probably not the right topic to put this on as not yet trying but I am very happy!

Been sort of talking about if for months, DH not relaly making his feelings known, other than, at some point maybe. I too have been unsure, well that is not true. I have been feeling extremely broody, but trying to figure out how much is nostalgia as DD is 2 and just gone from being a baby to a hectic toddler. But I keep going back to it, over and over and over, the fors, againsts and keep going back to the fact that I really want another child.

So, this evening in the car, don't know why, it was not planned. I just asked him.

'darling, you know we have been skirting around the issue of having another baby, tell me what you really think, I mean, really, just, tell me what are your thoughts on this? Set aside size of flat etc for now, just the baby thing'

'sure' he says. I look at him open-mouthed and say

'you mean, sure lets talk, or sure lets have a baby?'.

Sure, lets have another one'

SO we chat about it a bit, about what he really wants, is it just for me, does he WANT another one or just passifying me, I can wait if he is not sure.

'Pavlov babe, I want another baby, if you want one, then I am ready too'

We then talk some more, and agree that we will spend until christmas decluttering the flat and making sure it will fit another baby in (it will), then I will get the implant removed in January!!!

I was nervous I guess of actually asking the question outright, as I sort of knew DH did want another one, think he was stalling, but would break under pressure, and I did not want to pressure him. It turns out he just wanted me to make the decision, ask the question (just as my BF told me a few weeks ago, she said, he is ready, he just won't take the first step].

I am sooooooooo excited! I asked DD if she wanted a brother or sister, she said 'MY sister' all evening...!

Thank you....I know this is early stages, got a LONG way to go before there is another baby on the way...but its a step in the right direction.

The biggest hurdle, actually us both deciding we want another baby, that is now been overcome, so, next step...

practice

Lovely news Pavlov. Dp and I have finally agreed to ttc in January so I hope to see you on an antenatal thread sometime in March!

Flier · 20/10/2008 20:54

congratulations. am even though I already have 2, I know we have had "our lot" as it were.

I remember making the decision to try for number 2, and I think it is quite a difficult decision to come to. DD was born when DS was 2 years 9 months, so roughly the same gap as you are just now.

Good luck

LaDiDaDi - I will keep an eye out for you...maybe on the ttc threads too, fingers crossed for speedy conception!

Thanks Flier - I agree, this was a difficult decision. Especially as DD was unplanned so took out all the decision making. Well, not exactly true - she was planned as in, we will try in the next couple of years. She was soooooo the best thing, as soon as we found we were expecting, we realised it was so the right time to have her, without the decision making as part of it. This time, we have to make the decision together. And we are both ready, but its such a huge thing to ask outright isn't it?

We have agreed, implant out in Jan, then when it happens it happens.

Flier - how did you/do you find the gap? Is it a good gap? DD will be at least 3 by the time new baby is born, on the assumption I conceive immediately, so likely between 3-4 years I guess?

{Jimmy! - I been looking out for you....!! My phone is off...it ran out of juice and I been too lazy to recharge it..... I am up for the park...how is your family? How is DH? How is his mother?

Great to see you the other day in sainsbury's! I was caught off-guard as my hair was a mess and I had a mouth full of food!!!!} DD kept saying 'xx' 'xx' xx' over and over in the car afterwards!

Fab news, but i guess not positive for you this month then? . How cool will that be for us to have 2 little ones each both the same age.

No, BFN for me this month and CD14 is this Thurs so unless I jump on the milkman my chances of getting pg are slim!! DH is due back on Saturday though and the last two cycles I've ovulated on CD16 so I MAY catch it...assuming he does come back on Sat...he may extend again

Am so up for the park - my text said tomomorrow or whenever the weather is nice, but I'm not feeling so great and wouldn't want to pass any bugs on so shall we say Thur or Fri? Weather allowing that is!! My last week in Plymouth! Will miss you!

at the age gap you may have, your eldest will start at preschool, (I'm guessing) so it allows you time with the baby.

I actually found the age gap perfect.
DS started school this year, so dd and I have a year to ourselves, before she will start at preschool, which is lovely.

I'll say it again, I am soooo but so happy for you too.

Jimmy - friday is good for me. Do you know if it is half term this week here? DD has swimming lessons at Central Park on Fridays, so will be there anyway, unless it is half term, although I will probably go anyway....you could come swimming if its half term...

Flier - lol. DD is at nursery two days a week anyway. I think it is a good gap too, already at nursery and will most likely be doing 3 days by then anyway so won't feel like we are pushing her out as it will already be happening.

Someone the other day told me his girlfriend is expecting, and I was sooooooooooo jealous!

No, sis is a teacher so I have it on good authority that its next week! I won't go swimming as DS hasn't been yet and DH asked me to wait until he got back so we can do the first time swimming thing as a family...I've got a swimming burkini as well (the cossie for every trendy muslim y'know!)....they are ok with these things in Bristol but in Plymouth - I think the lifeguards would die laughing and the chavs would drown me!! lol lol

Charge your phone up and we will sort something out

Report
PavlovtheWitchesCat · 20/10/2008 21:45

Jimy - ROFL at the burkini and local chavs, you might be right you know...

I shall charge my phone. If its not half term DD is at lessons anyway, not that is doing much other than shouting nooooooo splash legs, noooooo splash arms...all she wants to do right now is play with watering cans!!! So, how about after swimming, seeing as we are there anyway?

jimmy - oh don't worry it won't coincide - about 11:15am? Swimming is 10-10:45.

We won't looking pretty though DD and I. Well DD might look fine, if not a bit tired but I will look a bit like, well like a woman who has been swimming.

I don't do make-up and hair when I swim. There are a couple who do though...they have hair and make-up and won't splash with their children in case they get wet/make-up runs. I get dunked and everything.

Can you cope with pavlov as she really is?
