Hello everyone!
Eeeks wheres the 1st thread?
Havent been on for so long and been a bit bz with a guest at home for a wk now..

Dungungirl how r u? what happened at the consultant? N hows everyone else?
I have got an appointment on the 20th August..seems like ages away and also going for a 2mth vacation end of august so the clomid might get delayed till october sighs..

So glad you found us!

I am good thanks. I have got my first appointment booked at the PCOS clinic for the 18th Sept, so that is good.

I was planning to start the clomid you gave me this month but I am waiting to do another test tomorrow as this morning I did a TESCO pregnancy test and it came up positive.

I am thinking that it may be faulty , so just to be sure I am going to do a clearblue digital tomorrow morning.

Will keep everyone posted!

If turns out to be false negative then I may do clomid this month....I am still trying to decide whether I should jsut do it or whether I should hold back till after my appointment at the PCOS clinic and I am sure they will want to run some tests and i don't want to mess things up with the results.

If you are really pregnant (i really hope you do) then you really deserve to be
do test another one to confirm btw isnt there any earlier dates for the appt? its bloody long to wait till sept!

Morning ladies!!!!

It is official...Clearblue digital gave me a BFP this morning!
And so did Boots on brand stick!
(Couldn't help myself...had to be double sure!)

HOORAY!!!!

Now....the worrying begins.....I had my MC at 6.5 weeks the last time....so.....I am going to be biting my nails as time ticks.....

I don't feel like telling mg GP yet as if I MC I will have to go through the cancelling of Midwife appointments all over again....

However, as I have had one MC I am allowed an early scan ( 6-7 weeks ) to be sure all is well. And I think only my GP can book that...ohhhh I don;t know...

Im so happy for you. I am fairly new and posted a couple of times on the last thread. I read all the problems and worries you have had and its brilliant that you now have a positive show. Im sure all will be fine concerning the mc as alot of women ( about 40% apparently ) lose the first pregnancy. Many of them very early so some dont even know. I was so shocked when I read that but made me more positive as I had a mc 10 years ago at 9 wks and have not become pregnant again.

I am sorry to hear about what happened to you.

Yeah...I know MC happens loads...I think I am just more paranoid as I have PCOS and it makes me 50% more likely to MC it seems whereas the 'normal' population have a rate of 15%.

Ah well, just have to keep fingers crossed!

i think that clomid made u feel that you needed it to make u pregnant and now u r pregnant without it! do take care of yourself cos' u r now PREGNANT

Thanks! Unfortunately, women with PCOS tend to have a higher risk of miscarriage than women without PCOS. Some studies have suggested that as many as 50% of women with PCOS experience a miscarriage compared to the average rate of 15% among the general population. While the exact reason for the increased miscarriage risk is unknown, experts do have a few theories.

Insulin resistance is thought to be a contributing factor, as women with PCOS and insulin resistance seem to be at a greater risk of miscarriage than women with PCOS but no insulin resistance issues. However, it is also thought that the increased LH (lutenizing hormone) levels present in some women or the high androgen levels in women with PCOS could also be a factor.

Is this what you wanted to know nandos?

As for how a succesful pregnancy affects PCOS women, some women claim that after a successful pregnancy their PCOS symptoms hugely improve, some claim they dissapear, and others claim they just go back to how they were before pregnancy!! But basically while you are pregnant the symptoms go away and you are actually more 'normal' for a while! Madness!

I have spoken to the consultant at the PCOS clinic and as I am not officially her patient yet ( waiting for 1st appointment in september) she can't refer me to the Endocrine disorders in pregnancy clinic for monitoring but has told me to get my GP to refer immediately for monitoring!

So fingers crossed all will be well this time, I will be looked after by the department I should be in and I will hopefully not have to be back in the position of thinking of taking 'you know what!'.

Nando - Well 10 yrs ago was not planned and to be honest I was only 21 so didnt think I was in the right place ( at the time the mc was a blessing as couldnt make the decision). How differently I feel now though as im now married and oh so ready for a family and im having trouble ttc. Been ttc for 1.5 yrs and was given clomid for low ovulation and am on 2nd cycle with no joy yet. DH has slightly low count too so trying all the usual things.
Im sure our time will come but really hard being positive every month. Gonna get a holiday booked as relaxing seems the best medicine

i just find it unfair for women with PCOS cos' its difficult enough for them to fall pregnant, let alone suffer the mc..

clairebear, i understand what u mean. i suffered a 1st mc like 3 yrs back when i was 23 and married but thought i wasnt ready till i suffered a 2nd one this May. had clomid early this yr and it worked first time, hope it works for you soon.
I am delaying taking clomid again till oct(long vacation) cos' i feel a need to take a break from it and also somehow i feel more fertile than i was before mc..strange isnt it

im not taking any clomid at the moment..maybe taking it on october onwards if im not pregnant by that time.
what cycle r u at on clomid? any side effects?
i felt something different on my 1st cycle of clomid e.g bloating n pinching feeling during ovulation so if u have any of these symptoms during clomid, it might be good news

i am now on cycle 3!!

i have 3 more goes with it. I have hot flushes and some pain but not alot really. I think i am due to test next week sometime??
I am or shall i say have ov so it is working, just waiting for the special swimmer to do it's thing

I have been reading up about Selenium ( a trace mineral) and there stuff all over the place saying that men should take it because it improves sperm quality. Try getting your DH on 100 ( don;t know what the measurement type is) of Selenium a day.

I am taking this on recommendation from my GP who said it has been proven in some tests to reduce miscarriage.

I am sure you will get there!

Also, another tip for everyone...we were busy 'at it' EVERYDAY from day 12 until day 21. This is the first time we have tried doing it everyday. It seems to have paid off. If you can face it, try it everyday ( if you DH has normal sperm count only though!)

Yeah, having PCOS sucks big time. It gets you at the TTC stage and just as you think you've done it, it can get you to MC. It is a real buggger!

Dungungirl - Im off shopping for selenium tonight by the looks of it thanks for the info. I have read a few sites and he is on Zinc and multivits already so Ill be hearing him rattling soon lol.

Sarashy - I am on clomid as I have slightly low ovulation but no pcos. I think im quite lucky getting it prescribed as some ladies really had to fight with gps to get it.
Fingers crossed it gives us the boost we need hunny.
Hopefully you wont have many side effects as they really vary for people. The 1st month was worse than the 2nd so stick it out. I got bad bloating ( my trs would not do up and so painful ) sore boobs and bad hot flushes. This month has been better so hopefully you will be fine too.

thanks clairebear i get the bloating, sore boobs ect anyway so hopeully wont make it worse lol. Im quite lucky as i work for my consultant so i think was easier to ge it prescribed. Everything crossed it helps us both. let me know.
