My DH and I BD-d at midnight on Saturday night without protection and BD-d Sunday, Monday and last night using the withdrawal method. I think I ovulated this morning (CD15). Assuming no sperm were released apart from on Saturday, what do you think my chances are of conceiving? I have heard various things relating to how long sperm can live. Does anyone have any advice? Just to let you know, we would be delighted to conceive, but aren't really ttc at the minute. IYKWIM!

Oooo I hope it's 5 days... Then maybe a couple will have made it?!
Lol re withdrawal method - we are aware it's not infallible.. We would both be v v happy to be pg but are not quite there to actively ttc, if that makes sense. So using totally unreliable birth control is our way of dealing with it!!
Thanks for replying

it can be up to 7 days and you can ovulate earlier
every time you have sex without contraception and i include withdrawal in that, you run the risk

sperm are released before ejaculation so it is not reliable unless you use otehr natural family planning methods too

Thanks. I am pretty sure I ovulated today. Was in fact hoping to ovulate earlier to maximise chances. We will see...

Hi itsallsoscary I think generally sperm can live for about 3 days, but in perfect conditions (ie when CM optimum, so rare) up to 5 days at a push. I think people tell teenage girls it can be longer! Don't worry. I'm sure you def could be pg, esp as you had sex on later days. The withdrawal method is more likely to result in conception if the man has ejaculated recently (as some sperm still in pre-cum).
HTH? good luck.
PS if you know you ovultaed today could you not BD tonight?
