okay, so here i am, after my missed m/c and ERPC. this was my second missed m/c but we had a gorgeous dd in between.
so theres much conflicting advice about how long/soon is okay to ttc again, personally i feel after many many conversations with Dr/midwife, that one cycle later is good, just for dating purposes. i do feel ready emotionally, not so awful as last time; mentally.
however, dh and i are keen... and i just wondered if anyone had got pg straight afterwards? or after just one cycle? last time it took 3 cycles to get pg, with dd. we arent actively ttc but we arent exactly doing much to stop it.. and of course now i worry that if i do get pg this time, so soon....something will go wrong. so i need reassurance, and success stories please ladies!

I've had ...
p/g then miscarried dec 2001 (?) then p/g ten miscarried with d/c march 2002, then p/g then miscarried with d/c (and major bloodloss and nearly died) that june, then p/g july 2003 - and have ds!

So getting pregnant isn't the problem...

I am pretty sure I conceieved DS one cycle after an early MC

I was high-risk this pregnancy so they monitored me more (which tbh meant I had about 4 antenatal appointments instead of 3! I did get a scan at 12 weeks which was lovely though) but ds was born just fine

Not quick quick but I had an early missed m/c in the August and then was pregnant again in the December. Turned out to be ds1, now aged 3. Part of reason for gap between m/c and getting pg was that we were getting married in the September and so weren't trying. I'd say I got pregnant on second attempt after m/c, as it were.

I miscarried at nearly 12 weeks in June 2004, 1 cycle and am now due 9th April. DH and I were a bit surprised (but delighted) - also I'm 42 so I guess we were just very, very lucky!!!! Good luck to you dramaqueen - if you feel ready emotionally then go for it!

I was told to wait at least 3 months prior to trying again but I knew I didn't want to wait that long. I did wait for 1 period because I wanted to be sure of my dates and also felt my womb would be more 'ready' for a pregnancy. Anyway, became pregnant after second period. Are you on your folic acid dramaqueen?

Hi, I miscarried twice and then got pregnant with dd - who is now 9 months - all in the space of 5 months last year (the miscarriages were early on).
I agree with Merlin - if you feel ready, go for it!

Had a miscarriage late December 2002, had a period and went onto have DS2 very early November 2003 and he was about two weeks late! Good luck, everyone.

Lunavix - I have a friend with a similar history and I know she took something pre-pregnancy and throughout her successful pregnancies. Do you want me to ask her for you?

Dramaqueen, I had an early miscarriage October last year. Left it one cycle and fell pregnant straight away only to miscarry again over Christmas. I'm now in the same boat as you, about to start trying after one cycle. Keeping fingers crossed it will be third time lucky for me. Fingers crossed for you too and everyone else in the same boat.

I tested positive five years ago, at christmas, and lost it within days. We had tried for 2 years. I then immediatly found I was pregnant next month! Doc couldn't believe I was, and sent me for a scan to see if it was first preganancy continuing, but it was a new one one! Had an awful pregnancy with a very bad bleed at 15 weeks, and he was a month premature at 4lb 13oz, but now a gorgeous 5 year old.
hope that helps!

tigi, absolutely that helps. so glad you got ds! so if i DID catch super early, then they would just give me a scan and sort dates out from there?
minnie; i dont believe it makes you more fertile, and someone please tell me if i'm wrong there- but i know its a GOOD thing to be taking during ttc. as its essential for forming parts of the baby and placenta and such like. HTH!
meid, sorry its happened to you too. we have a 'ttc after m/c but nervous' thread going if you fancy joining similar story people? its definately going to be third time lucky for you.
we will be the next lot of happy endings.

I don't think folic acid makes you more fertile. But it does prevent some severe abnormalities, that would possibly then miscarry, if you see what I mean.

I'm another one whose had miscarriages and pregnancies pretty close together. One 10-week miscarriage October 2000, pregnant again in December 2000, DS1. One 11-week miscarriage September 2003, pregnant again in December, DS2. Their birthdays are two days (and three years) apart!

I miscarried at 8 weeks and got pregnant the next month. Wonderfully supportive GP who told me to trust my own feelings. Most advise waiting for a period but my GP said this was only to date any subsequent pregnancy.

Good luck.

I miscarried at about 4 weeks- just like an extra-heavy period, really, and got pregnant with dd almost immediately! I hadn't had time to make a drs appointment after the miscarriage (and I was sure it was over, so didn't see the point), and when I told him I was pregnant then about the miscarriage, he was horrified! I definitely got the impression that he thought it was irresponsible to get pregnant straight away, but as it happened, apart from dreadful sickness, for 5 months, and heartburn for the remaining 4 months, and a fibroid that meant I had to have a section, I was fine

I had a miscarriage, waited two cycles and got pregnant again first time trying. Had another miscarriage and then took 7 cycles to get pregnant again. After the second miscarriage I only waited one cycle to try again. When you really want a baby it is so hard to use contraceptives to stop getting pregnant. It seems ludicrous.

When I had my second miscarriage I was hospitalised and given some literature about m/c. It was pretty up to date and it said there was no medical reason to wait to ttc again. Good luck!
