I agree those manufacturers are only out to make money.

and how effective do they claim that test to be?

i cant find the stats. it makes me so mad! they are cashing in on the turmoil that the average woman goes through when f/ttc

My dh banned me from doing tests when TTC. They are fairly expensive here as well, and I don't think I've ever had a positive before 4 and a half weeks.

it's hard to stay strong - 6 days out is when my resolve starts to weaken...though if I don't test, I can have a glass of wine on friday night...it's tough!

stay here with me! i shall dissuade you from testing early

thanks! will do my best...there's a boots just around the corner from my office, have managed to resist popping in to stock up...so far! have to say, not sure there's any chance i might be pg, DP and I gave ourselves a few months off after a mc in january and this month was the first one back. as it took us 6 months last time, i'd be astounded if our attempts at ttc were successful!

Report
OracleInaCoracle · 19/06/2008 15:14

im sorry about your mc. stranger things have happened though! i used to keep a stash of HPTs in the bathroom. not any more!

well, i'll just keep my fingers crossed for a nice surprise next week (am due on tuesday, regular as clockwork so only a few days' suspense)

What a great thread title! I'm just about to ovulate and this month I am not, repeat not, testing until my period is late...I use CB monitor so my POAS budget is eaten up with those and any more wasted tests will just be too much money! Though there is one FR lurking in my bathroom and I just now it'll be like a siren song to me in about a week...I shall be checking in here to stay strong!

er that should be "know" and not "now"

First month of ttcing (finally ), CD21 today and expecting to ov any time soon judging by my gallons of EWCM, already thinking about testing!! Tis maddness and I don't want to get draw into in, going to be hard to resist though. Not keeping any in the house. The plan is to buy a test on CD40 and test with FMU on CD41. The longest cycle I have had this year is 38 days and if I ov in the next couple of days I would expect a 35/6 days cycle. So if I get to CD41 then odds are on I am pg, otherwise AF will arrive several days before. How likely is that I will last!

Report
OracleInaCoracle · 19/06/2008 17:39

you WILL last. just remember, the longer you leave it the more likely you are to get a bfp that you dont have to hold up to the light/out of the window/in a freshwater spring to see a line!

Just wanted to put my 2 penneth worth in!! I have wasted over £40 on tests this month, testing from CD17! And if only I had waited until today, CD32 I would have got a BFP straight away, instead of 8 BFNs!!!!

Please save me from those evil tests lissie and everyone. I am driving myself mad. Due Sat and already tested more than I care to admit. Really I should not test until Sun at least. Help me have some will power.

do you have any tests in the house bluelines? if so, get dh to hide them!

hi everyone, just wanted to check a possible symptom...haven't gone off coffee at all, but tea definitely tastes funny. Couldn't really say how, but it's since last saturday, which would be 5 dpo...am i imagining things? Surely DP couldn't have left dishwashing liquid on my morning cup of tea 5 days running??? (realise DP sounds very good...basically i make dinner, he makes me a cup of tea in the morning...not sure it's entirely even - though i do enjoy cooking!)

Report
OracleInaCoracle · 19/06/2008 21:15

that does sound promising!

dh does all the cooking in our house. ds wont eat my food any more

oh no! must be too sophisticated

if you think it's promising, i promise in turn to wait at least another day before testing (which takes me to weekend, and as i promised DP I wouldn't obsess, that should take me through to monday - yay!)

what are the tips for resisting though? DH points out with my very regular cycles why bother, testing 4/6 days early isn't going to make a difference.. I'm very bad not knowing. With DD got pregnant the first month so never ttced, its so tempting to test.

i suppose just reminding yourself of the stats.

i used to test early every month, no more!
