Anyone want to join me?

I’m fairly certain we want to ttc #2, but I need to get my blood sugars under control first - need to get my HBA1C under 50 from 68.

My diet is also pretty crap and could do with improvement.

Would be great to have some virtual buddies so we can encourage each other/share progress!

I'll join! We are also hoping for number 2. I seem to have developed allergies to basically everything though so am trying a 'low histamine diet' in an attempt to get my body healthy enough to cope with pregnancy. Currently I'm just hungry but being allergic to chocolate is definitely making it my most successful diet ever! :-/

Hi Smile I can’t say I’ve ever heard of a low histamine diet before!! What does that involve? Did the allergies affect your last pregnancy? Chocolate is 100% my weak spot - I eat it every day and really need to stop 😕 but it’s so hard!

I'll join! We're hoping to try for #1 at the start of next year and I came off the pill 4 weeks ago to start the long process of getting hormones balanced. Still waiting for AF to arrive 🤞

I feel you on the diet @Glassofshloer, I'm lactose intolerant and dairy gives me such bad inflammation, so I need to get myself together. I just can't help myself, its like I watch myself in slow motion eating a chocolate biscuit shouting 'why?!' Grin

Are you taking or planning to take any specific supplements in preparation to ttc?

I'll join too, planning to get my coil removed to TTC #3 soon. I've been delaying partly for work reasons and partly because my diet is horrendous, but have had a sudden realisation that I'm not getting any younger so I need to stop with all the excuses and get on with it.

I've been taking folic acid and a few others which were more to support my cycle but will carry on with them (magnesium, calcium, vitamin b, vitamin d).

Exciting! A lot of articles etc I have read stress the importance of a good diet and supplements before conception as well as afterwards so I think you’re very sensible! Are you as worried about healthy eating over Christmas as I am? Grin

I’m taking the pregnacare ttc tablets and making DH take the Wellman ones which I took before - thought I would stick with the devil I know! They’re massive though 🤢

Well it seems we all have a lot of work to do on our diets! Hopefully we can swap tips and encourage each other along…!

Anyone up for keeping a kind of casual food diary on here? I feel like if I see it in black & white then I can’t go into denial about how bad it is BlushGrin

I’ll join - I’m overweight with PCOS and want to get to a healthy weight (so need to lose about 10kg) to improve my chances of conceiving #1 next year. And need to get fitter in the hope of having a quick birth…

I’ve taken an iron supplement and multivitamin today and now having veggie sausages, mash and peas for dinner 😋

Glassofshloer · 11/10/2021 20:04

Welcome Tufty!!

You’ve made me want mash now 🤤 unfortunately we’ve had the kitchen floor done today and can’t walk on it until tomorrow, so it’s a takeaway tonight 😳 but the healthy diet starts tomorrow!! guilty eyes

I switched to decaf a few months ago, and only allow myself one proper coffee a day, so that’s the success story here. I really need to work on cutting out sugary snacks though, which will be a killer as they keep me going with a toddler and full time work Blush

Well today isn’t going very well! I can’t access my kitchen because of some works going on in there, so ‘breakfast’ has been a shop bought smoothie & half a gingerbread man 😳

Every day I tell myself tomorrow will be better but it never is!

I'm impressed it was half a gingerbread man, so silver linings! 😁

My food hasn't been great either, but dinner is already cooked and is reasonably healthy (halloumi with veg). Could be worse!

Haha, my daughter had the other half or I would’ve scoffed that as well! Think I’m going to broach the topic of a weekly meal plan with DH when he’s home.

Ah well a smoothie is fruit so that's not too bad - there's only so much you can do with no kitchen! We are getting a new fridge freezer on Friday (that's a tongue twister!), so having to eat everything up and will probably have a takeaway on Friday. Well done on reducing the caffeine as well - it's probably good to get one thing under control at a time anyway, otherwise you'll end up feeling deprived of both caffeine and sugar which would be a bit of a nightmare.

Lunch of instant noodles wasn't great here either but having mushroom & spinach risotto for dinner which has lots of iron and folic acid. I don't put dairy in it so it's not too high in fat either.

Glassofshloer · 13/10/2021 07:58

Oh the risotto sounds 🤤 how did it go?

Breakfast smoothie & a coffee here, I’m intending to have an omelette and toast with fruit for lunch, and jacket potato with tuna crunch and veg for dinner. With no snacks (😱) wish me luck!

Hi ladies,

Do you mind if I join?

Hoping to TTC at the end of the year/early 2022. I've about 20 pounds I need to lose first, and I want to get a better oversight of my ovulation dates/periods. I have long cycles and they can vary so much so going to spend a few months trying to get my body prepared.

Any tips/advice welcome!!!

Can I also join? Probably looking to start next year, came off the Pill in June but I have PCOS.

First few cycles were normal, and now on day 57 of current cycle…. (Also ties in with Covid vaccine but also just be me)

I’m a healthy weight just about but I’d like to drop half a stone. I came off the pill a couple of years ago and my periods were decent but I was doing lots of weighted workouts so I need to get my butt to the gym.

If we’re thinking of trying next year, when would people recommend folic acid etc?

Welcome Sophie! Have you got a period app? I have the P tracker which is quite simple but easy to use. When I was ttc my daughter I used the ovulation sticks and marked the positive tests on the app. You can also switch to pregnancy mode if you get a positive test which was useful!

Hi Chihuahua Smile

How long are your cycles usually (ish)? I found the jab delayed mine by a few days when normally they’re pretty much 30 days bang on. I think I read somewhere that it’s good to take a prenatal vitamin a few months in advance of ttc to give all the vitamins time to absorb, build up reserves etc - I’m hoping 🤞🏻 to start ttc in January so I’ve already started taking mine x

Risotto was good - slung a load of frozen peas in there as well to try and use them up before defrosting the freezer tomorrow. Obviously had to have an ice lolly for lunch today for the same reason Blush

PCOS solidarity, Chihuahua - are you taking anything for it? I am on metformin and spironolactone at the moment, but have to come off the spiro to ttc as it can damage the baby. It doesn’t seem to be doing anything other than making me need to pee all the time so that’s fine by me!

Hi! My cycles are a bit of a mess atm! I came off the pill in June and had 32, 45 and now a realllyyyy long one.

Last time I was off the pill though I averaged about 37 so hoping it just needs some time to settle.

I’m not on anything yet but heard good things about inositol so going to try that soon and see if it helps.

It’s nice to have people to talk to as no one knows in ‘real life’!

I'd love to join too of okay? We'll start in January or February. First pregnancy and first time TTC - we've been together for 12 years so I'm really nervous and excited for the change.

Of course, DH has just booked a long weekend with the boys away in Jan so sod's law that's when I'll be ovulating!

I've been off the pill nearly 7 weeks and no period yet, but I've started tracking my bbt and using OPK tests and I think I'm due a visit from AF this weekend. I last had natural periods in my teens so I've no idea what to expect of my cycle. I thiiink it was on the long side and/irregular, but then that might be because I was young.

I'm taking preconception vitamins and cutting back on caffeine and alcohol (most of the time, but finding the booze a bit tricky socially). But otherwise just waiting... which is driving me bananas! It's so nice to have somewhere to talk about it - @chihuahuacat I'm just the same, nobody knows in real life! Though some suspect - mum not infrequently asks if I'm pregnant, which I'm worried might become a bit of a sensitive issue if it take us a while...

Chihuahuacat · 13/10/2021 15:04

@AprilMayAnne that sounds similar to us - we’ve been together 11 years so a huge change (and one I’m slightly apprehensive about…..)

Has anyone looked at the financial side yet? My mat leave policy is okish but I’d like to take a year and wondering if anyone has any tips? I’m trying to up my savings (which I’ll blow on a lovely holiday if nothing happens!)

Hi ladies, also looking to start TTC after Christmas. Will be baby number 2, my daughter is 16 months old. Came off the pill in July and tracking me periods, so far pretty regular 27-28 day cycles. Fingers crossed for all of us!

Glassofshloer · 14/10/2021 16:38

Welcome April and Mrs Sam!

I know what you mean, you can’t really tell anyone about ttc in real life so it’s nice to chat about it with other women! DH nods but looks a little blank when I start talking about vitamins etc Grin

It will be a big change April, but an exciting one! I remember how daunting my first pregnancy was in terms of ‘OMG my life is about to change ARGHHHH’ Grin

Financially I have a good maternity package & would take a year off again - it’s 6 months full pay, 3 months half pay, 3 months stat. Although I’ve been debating whether to do split parental for the last few months so DH can have a bit of a break and I can ease back into work without worrying about nursery, etc. My little girl will be at pre-school if the baby was born in the autumn/winter which also makes things easier.

Well, we now have a functional kitchen so I’m doing med veg pasta & pesto for dinner. Yoghurt & strawberries for pud. Got a big healthy shop arriving tomorrow so planning a bit of batch cooking at the weekend!

That sounds great @Glassofshloer

I was trying to be healthier for dinner but DH added garlic bread…

I have however ordered some Vit D and some spearmint tea as I read that can help with pcos
