1DPO - Anyone want to join for the 2WW?

Hello! First month TTC. Currently 1DPO, no symptoms as of yet, but already feeling stressed at the thought of not knowing if we were successful for two more weeks! Worried we didn't BD enough, we did every other day during the fertile window including day before O. Anyone got any advice or just want to join in the conversation to get us through the wait?

Hi @IzzT, I'm 5 DPO so a little ahead but thought I'd say hello 🖐. I was exactly the same in my first month and the 2 week wait went so slowly! I'm on my third cycle now. It sounds like you covered yourselves with every other day. Did you track your ovulation?

@Daisyrobin123 thanks for saying hi! Yes - I used the Premom app and OPKs. Had my peak on CD14 so O'd on CD15 I think. Still trying to work out what all the numbers/charts etc mean! I think the thing I'm finding the hardest is just not knowing - wouldn't it be great if you could O and then just find out the next day if it worked! I imagine every tiny symptom/feeling I have over the next 2 weeks I'm just going to jump to assuming it's happening! When would you suggest starting testing?

@IzzT I know exactly what you mean. I'm sure until recently I was so naive to the fact you had to actually wait 2 weeks ish to find out 🙈 (I'm 28 😂).
I've found I'm ok the first week but the second week not knowing is agonising! In my first month I got really painful boobs and nausea for days - neither of which are normal PMS symptoms for me. Then in the second month AF was 4 days late which was cruel! In the end I didn't care if AF showed I just needed to know either way - hate the being in limbo.

Regarding testing I think it depends! I would say wait until at least 10 DPO, though even a negative then doesn't mean your not pregnant. The last 2 cycles I tested the day before I was due, this time I'm going to try and wait until the day after AF is due (if it doesnt show) - although ask me in a few days and I'll probably have changed my mind 🙈 do you think you're going to test early or wait?!

@Daisyrobin123 I'm also 28 and had no idea what TTC really involved until we decided to start trying! I keep telling myself that I'm still young in the grand scheme of things and statistically it's likely to happen for us pretty quickly - it's so hard knowing it could be months and months though!

Honestly I'm super impatient! 😂I'll probably end up testing early, especially as it's our first month trying. I think it'll be harder to wait if I do get any "symptoms" though. I always thought I had pretty easy cycles, minimal symptoms etc, but this month I feel like I'm noticing every tiny thing so I'll probably find something that feels different, but maybe it's just that I haven't noticed it before 🙈

Is this baby #1 for you too?

@IzzT Totally understand, feel like I could have written your post! It's nice to have someone the same age in the same situation 🥰 Yes, you're completely right. I think it's easy to get consumed on here too and lots of the posts automatically make you think you're going to struggle/its never going to happen/if you do fall then you'll miscarry. It's hard knowing that even if you've done everything you can and timed it perfectly, it still might not happen that month! But hopefully we can share some good news with each other soon 🥰🌷
You're right, I think part of me really thought it might happen the first time, now it's my third cycle but realistically that's only what - 10 weeks of trying?! So nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I told myself that I'm not allowed to even think about worrying until it's been a year. Hard when like you, I'm impatient and would rather it happen right now!

Yes this would be baby #1! I still can't believe I'm at that age where people are having babies on purpose now! I'm a teacher, own a house and 2 dogs and still dont feel old enough to have a baby on purpose 😂🙈

Definitely - you read a lot of negative things on here (and I really feel for those struggling) but I think realistically it does paint a picture of everyone struggling for a long time and that just can’t be true!

Haha I feel exactly the same - married, work as a doctor, have a dog but still don’t feel “old enough” to have a baby! I don’t think you’ll ever feel ready though - it’s such a life altering thing so it’s always going to be crazy when it actually happens!

How has your partner been with it all? I’m not sure my hubby really understands much of it or how difficult it can be TTC Confused he’s super supportive though and so far has been great at putting up with my craziness with OPK testing etc. Grin

Hi 👋 I'm also 28, TTC #1 and a teacher so I thought I'd join in this conversation! This is my 4th cycle and I'm currently 3DPO. This month ovulation happened a few days later than expected (CD17 not 14) so our DTD window ended up being extended! I had really high OPK readings just before ovulation, the highest I've ever had, so hoping that means it was a lucky egg. I've had random symptoms these last 3 cycles so I sort of convinced myself I was pregnant each time, it's so disheartening when AF arrives - I'm trying not to symptom spot this time though or early test but we'll see!

Yes it does, you're right. A facebook friend announced her pregnancy at the weekend and I automatically thought 'bet it happened first time'. But I have absolutely no idea how long it took - they could have had multiple miscarriages and been trying for a year for all I know. It's just easy to assume it happens first time for everyone. I think when it does happen for me, whether it's this month or in 6 months time, I'd like to be quite open with those around me about how long it took. Most of my friends don't have children yet and I think they would appreciate the honesty and it would help build realistic expectations.

Ha ha I'm glad it's not just me then! Have you had your dog from a pup? Don't get me wrong, I know having a baby won't be easy but at least it won't chew my floorboards 🙈

My partner sounds similar to yours. Hes super supportive and is so ready to be a dad. But he's also soooo chilled about it all and is relaxed like he knows it's going to happen soon and so therefore doesn't need to worry. He doesn't overthink like I do! I'm glad yours is supportive too! 🥰

Hi @Bee44! 🖐 so nice to have someone else similar join! What do you teach? I teach primary (year 1).

Completely empathise with the symptom spotting! My first cycle was the same - new symptoms that I dont usually get with PMS so really got my hopes up. Then last month AF was 4 days late and I had a mean evap line too! So I'm being stubborn and not symptom spotting this month 🙈
We were similar with our fertile window being extended too!

Sounds really positive, fingers crossed for a lucky egg and sending you lots of good vibes! 🙏🥰

@Daisyrobin123 I'm secondary English so completely opposite end of the scale to the age you teach! Oh wow, last month wasn't kind to you was it 💖 I've had no hint of a line but I totally get how much it'd get your hopes up. I had my fertile window planned out this month (or so I thought) and had all of my usual ovulation symptoms on the usual CD's but they went on for much longer, a bit like my body was gearing up for it but didn't actually get there when it wanted to. Luckily I caved and bought more OPKs which I'm glad I did otherwise I would've missed ovulation, CD17 is the longest gap ever! Wondering now if AF will arrive 2 weeks after ovulation day (so the 30th) or if it will be earlier based on my usual dates 🤔

Hi everyone . Thought I'd jump on and say hello. I'm an old lady at 31 😂 we have a 4 year old girl who was a surprise. We are now on official trying cycle 4 now. Been using clearblue opk alongside cheap ebay opks. Like most if you I convince myself I'm preg each month then af shows her face and I tell myself each month that I won't do it again haha. . I normally have 26 day cycles and was 4 days late last month! ( also ovulated 4 days later too). I also got an evaporation line on my late month its so cruel, apparently the blue dye tests are known for it, who would have known.

Anyway nice to meet you all. I got my first positive opk and static smily face yesterday and they are still going strong so must be about to ovulate I think. Dtd today and yesterday and also 2 days before so hopefully covered if its meant to be this month. X

Best of luck to you ladies xxxx

Hi everyone! Taking the leap and jumping on here too instead of just lurking 😊 Forgive me for my lack of understanding for some of the abbreviations. I’m 32 and in my 3rd cycle TTC #1. My last cycle was my first using opks. I think I felt implantation around 9 dpo and had some nausea and dizziness 12/13 dpo. I was excited to see the faintest positive on 13/14 dpo but sadly started bleeding 4 days later and had negative tests thereafter.

I think I’m 2-3 dpo on this cycle. Fingers crossed that this month has some success again!

Hello @Bee44, @K8Tee and @dogmom0930 - nice to have you all here! Sounds like everyone has had a tough couple of months, hopefully this month is everyone's month!

@Daisyrobin123 we've had our dog since she was a puppy, she's now nearly 2 years old. We're really interested to see what's she like around any babies - we don't really have any close friends or family with young kiddies so it'll all be new to her! What about you?

@Bee44 Thank goodness you bought extra OPKs then! When mine was later than normal last month it delayed my AF! I'm so determined not to test until the day after AF is due (if it doesn't show) though if any of you start testing I might cave 🙈

Hi @K8Tee sounds like we had a similar month last cycle with the cruel evap line and late AF! Best of luck to you too! 🌷

@dogmom0930 Hi! It took me a while to learn the abbreviations too, im sure I've learnt more from these forums than I did at school biology wise! That must have been so tough to get a faint BFP 😞.

@IzzT Aah lovely 🥰 we've had one since she was 11 months and one since he was a puppy. Same in regards to how they are around babies/children, though they are such good natured dogs I think they will be great.

Those that have had previous cycles, how do you cope with the 2ww? I'm normally chilled the first week but the 2nd week sends me crazy as I just need to know either way! I've had a cough/cold (potential chest infection) for almost 3 weeks now so I'm not getting my hopes up that this month is THE month.
Hope you all have a lovely day!

@dogmom0930 hi! Our minds are naughty at playing tricks on us aren't they. Good luck for this month.

@Daisyrobin123 yes as I was reading yours and @Bee44 post it was almost like I could have written it most of it myself. ❤ minus the teacher part haha.

The 2ww is agonising. The only thing I can suggest is to keep yourself busy busy set like little goals everyday to keep your mind off it. It really doesn't work for me though lol I never thought I'd be obsessed 😅

It's mad isn't it @K8Tee!! I really thought I'd be so chilled and I'm really not and it's only cycle 1 for me!

Got really bad heartburn today, spent most of the morning convincing myself that 1. I'm only 2DPO so it's probably just a coincidence and 2. I get heartburn anyway so it's definitely just a coincidence! Confused

Agree! Before we started I said I was going to be 'not trying not but preventing'.. a few days later I was ordering OPKs 🙈🙈

Ha ha @IzzT and it's only 9.45 🤭

IzzT · 21/04/2021 11:01

@Daisyrobin123 I was the same - ordered the OPKs after saying the first month we were just going to see what happened. Having said that, I'm glad we did as I ovulated 2 days later than the app predicted so I would have missed my fertile window if I'd just gone off the app!

Do you think our doggy friends will know when we get a BFP? I've heard they seem to just know when someone is pregnant Hmm

Hi! I’m in my first ever 2 week wait - 2 days post ovulation (I think, not using OPK or tracking temps but have regular periods and had EWCM on Monday!). We DTD Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday so hopefully covered!
Trying to be relaxed about it as it’s the first month but already obsessing 😂

@IzzT I think you did the right thing. Last month I didn't track and then when AF was late I realised I must have ovulated later than I thought. So think we DTD too early and potentially only once in the FW 🤦‍♀️ Decided to track again this month but didn't start until CD12 this time so didn't feel as stressed!
It'll be interesting to see if they do pick up on it. Though mine are so clingy anyway 🙈 if they start ignoring me then I'll suspect something!

@JuniperAndTonic 🖐 I'm on my third cycle but that first 2 week wait was painfully slow! 🙈 Hopefully it's a lucky first cycle for you!! 🌷

Hi Ladies 🥰
Hope you don't mind if I join ♥️

I'm 30 TTC #1 and I'm on Cycle 2.

Currently 4dpo 🤞🏼
Think I'll start testing around Monday.

Sending all the luck to you all ♥️

@JuniperAndTonic I'm glad I'm not the only newbie! I hope we're lucky this cycle but if not at least it sounds like the first 2ww might be the slowest! Honestly feel like it's been an age since I O'd. It's literally been 48 hours 😂 I figure I'm going to try my best to wait until either symptoms (which I'm sure my head will make up for me) or hold out until at least 9/10 DPO before testing. It's going to be so hard though!

@Daisyrobin123 mine is super clingy too - half cocker spaniel, half lab and spends most of her life lying on me or my DH anyway so I can't imagine we'll see much of a difference.
