Ovulation After Miscarriage

Hi Everyone.

This is my first time posting.
I had a miscarriage 3 weeks ago at 5+3 weeks. It was my first pregnancy and mine and hubby's 1st month trying so we were absolutley delighted, but a few days later i started bleeding.
It all happened naturally and the bleeding stopped after 5 days.
We are hoping to try again and ive been doing ovulation tests but nothing so far. Is this normal? I have got some pains low down in my tummy today could it be my period so soon? Or ovulation?
Im so anxious about trying again as im worried the same will happen.
Thanks in Advance. Soph. X

Hi @Soph01 sorry to hear this. I am also doing OPKs following mc in the hope I get the smiley face soon...

If you're regular your periods should return within 4-6 weeks, so I suppose that would put ovulation between 2-4 after mc.

As for being anxious about it happening again, you absolutely will be (unfortunately I speak from experience here), there is nothing you can do about that, just take it day by day and get checked if you think you need to. Most of the time, mc is a one-time thing, so try to remember that you are more likely to have a successful pregnancy next time

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I wish you lots of luck for that smiley face ☺
I guess its all just a waiting game. Either i will ovulate in next few days or AF will arrive.

Just to add, you should treat your mc as your last period, therefore it is unlikely that your period will arrive two weeks after. It's pretty much a game of anything goes after mc, but generally you can expect a period within 4-6 weeks

Hope you're doing ok!

So sorry to hear this. Everyone is of course different after an MC. After my own experience I bought some of the mega cheap ovulation testing sticks and they were really good & helped me track my cycle. It can take a while to get back to a normal cycle but I’m sure you’ll get there. X

Just an update for you my end - I got a flashing OPK this morning. Who knows when it will turn to static but looks promising at least! My mc was 2 weeks ago yesterday, I usually don't ovulate until 3 weeks after AF starts, so it looks like it may be 'on time' (for me anyway) even following mc.

Fingers crossed for you 🤞

Ah fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞 i hope it all goes to plan.
I have period pains today so i think that i may not have ovulated this month unless i missed it. I read that some women's surge can only last a few hours so could have missed it.
Anyway good luck. Xx
