Roll up, roll up, it’s time for a new thread for the ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few. This our 4th thread (I think!) and we've had a few ladies get their BFP recently which is so exciting! Join us, won’t you?

Welcome back:

Yay for the new thread @TheHotelCalifornia thanks for setting this up :)

@kay00 been meaning to ask you what you did with your B vits this cycle? Did I read you've not ovulated yet? I'm CD13 and am thinking I'll stop my high dose B6 for a week and see if ovulation happens, not sure what's best!

I've got a good feeling about this thread for us all 🤞

@kay00 are you still taking EPO if you haven’t ovulated. I haven’t had a temp rise to confirm ovulation yet despite EWCM. Wondered whether I still need to take it or just stop until next cycle?

No problem @TheHotelCalifornia!

I'm now 9 weeks. Still quite anxious and awaiting my scan. Still feels odd that no one NHS has actually confirmed I'm pregnant... but my weekly test is still positive so... guess I am! I've been lucky and been quite symptom light which is nice but not.helping the worry.

Scan is a week tomorrow (same day as the US election - lets hope both go the way I'd want them to!).

Wishing you all the best of luck on your TTC journeys- hoping this thread fills with BIG FAT POSITIVEs!

@TheDaydreamBelievers that is so exciting you are so close to seeing baby!! Has reality kicked in yet? Are you doing a private scan too with partner or just going with the NHS one? Sucks partners still can't go

Report
ChinChilly · 26/10/2020 12:57

How exciting @TheDaydreamBelievers I also find it odd that nobody from the NHS confirms pregnancy before the scan

Report
TheDaydreamBelievers · 26/10/2020 13:39

Just nhs @AMS19 - I think we both feel an earlier scan doesnt protect against anything going wrong and also wouldn't reduce my anxiety.

Its the '12 week' scan on nov 3rd but is at 10 weeks in reality because they wont adjust away from last period calculated dates until the scan. I did tell them at booking that my periods were all over the place and that I knew the ovulation date, but they did not want to adjust till scan. So should adjust that at the scan I guess! Might mean I get scanned again 2 weeks later. We have told our nearest and dearest then at 12 weeks will tell more friends and family I think!

Report
TheDaydreamBelievers · 26/10/2020 13:41

@ChinChilly - I understand why they dont scan earlier (hard to see much before week 7, not protective against things going wrong). But it does surprise me that they dont even test bloods or urine!

@TheHotelCalifornia thanks for the new thread - love the name!

@MintGreenLife - sooo glad you have found a new house and congrats on having your offer accepted! Woohoo! Its nice your OH went to view some houses, my OH refused to see any house other than the one we bought (haha! He's so stubborn)... although he regrets it now because it has been such a big project Grin

@Juno231 sorry to hear you had a falling out with your OH, its completely understandable. My OH has refused to cut down on alcohol/caffeine/any thing... and I doubt he would even agree to do any tests... have I mentioned that he's stubborn? Grin

@AMS19 did you get your peak? I have had lots of watery fertile fluid (ahem) this morning and my OPKs look like they might be getting darker... hoping I get a peak too (although I think this will be my 3rd peak so far this cycle)! I have nearly burned through an entire pack of 50 OPKs!! So i'm hoping I get a peak soon or i'll run out!! Haha!

@TheDaydreamBelievers - OMG, 9 weeks already, that has gone past really quickly (unless time has slowed for you)?

@Moocher90 well, normally I would have kept up my 2000mg of EPO up until ovulation, but it has been 20 days since I started getting fertile CM so I have cut it down to 1000mg per day, and that seems plenty Smile

@mintgreenlife ref the B-Vits I stopped them on CD10 and now its CD35 - haha... and no ovulation yet (I don't think). As soon as I get a temperature rise then i'll start taking them again. I felt like taking a break at CD10 in my previous cycle helped bring on ovulation earlier, but now i'm not so sure. I think @Juno231 takes hers all the way through?

AMS19 · 26/10/2020 13:59

@Kay00 that is super exciting!! Maybe order more off prime just in case? At least your body is trying, mine has made no attempt until this month.
Technically mine are still being classed as high but looking into it more it seems premom only gives you a peak once your levels go back down again on your first cycle as they don't know what peak is. I'm at 167% and line is as darker if not darker than control line?!?!? so if I'm not at peak I'm very close? Fermometer app had me at peak from last night! Either way I DTD at lunchtime today as well as last night...working from home benefits!

@TheDaydreamBelievers totally makes sense if your first scan is at 10 weeks anyway. Our plan is to do a private at 10 weeks then NHS at 12 weeks, just so my DH can come to one. But agree, on reality it doesn't mean anything is totally safe. How are your symptoms?

@Kay00 thanks :) praying this all goes smoother this time around! Haha oh really, I think mine quite likes looking.

That sucks that ovulation is going to be super late this cycle. I'm taking a b-vit complex that has fairly standard b-vit doses, plus an extra 100mg b6, so am thinking I'll stop the b6 now (CD13) and see what happens. Was hoping the AC would mean I ovulate nice and early this cycle, but not getting any signs that's going to happen any time soon. I'm only taking half the daily dose though, so maybe I'll stop the b-vits and up the AC. Kind of wanted to give it one full cycle to see how I responded to it, but am getting impatient already...which probably sounds ridiculous to you on CD35, although my latest ovulation was CD40 and i'm pretty sure I would have been getting frustrated right about now then too ha. There must be a reason why coming off the pill causes such a late ovulation and short luteal phase?!

Sperr · 26/10/2020 14:23

@Juno231thanks for your response in the old thread! My OPK is still on low so hopefully I have time to recover and lower my temp. My resting heart rate is pretty low still so I may use that as well as a back up.

Report
Kay00 · 26/10/2020 14:26

@ams19 I would certainly count that as your positive - well done!! And soo great that you have managed to time DTD too - try to squeeze in another tomorrow if possible Grin!

@MintGreenLife I'm pretty impatient too, haha, this will be my latest ovulation (if it happens)! I have no idea why we get these really odd cycles after coming off the pill - I have had three clear LH surges, with all the fan fair (fertile CM, high, soft an open cervix, strong OPKS and a raging desire to bed my OH lol) but no temperature rise... so annoying!!

Report
MintGreenLife · 26/10/2020 14:44

@Kay00 that happened to me in my second cycle off the pill - I had three LH surges spread across about two weeks before I finally ovulated, and then I think I had an LP of about 4 days 🤦🏻‍♀️ Really hope it happens soon and you get a nice long LP xx

AMS19 · 26/10/2020 14:52

@Kay00 @MintGreenLife I do wonder if there has been research into the lasting effects. I mean, clearly they do some pretty intense things to our bodies. I felt absolutely dreadful the first month coming off, and that made me realise the extreme impact they were clearly having. Hopefully you are both getting there now though and things quickly move forward more! 🤞

Report
MintGreenLife · 26/10/2020 17:06

@Kay00 @AMS19 I've been trying to find answers and found this research: www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/Fertility-After-Oral-Contraceptives.html

Interestingly it says cycle disturbances, which is defined as a luteal phase of less than 10 days, happened in the 'post-pill' group up until the 7th cycle. I believe this is my 6th cycle now, although 7 months off the pill, so praying that means things might get better from here on, although not holding my breath ha.

It also says that long cycles happened up to 12 months post-pill, and long cycles are caused by late ovulation right? So if I was going from this, I'd say I'm in for a short LP for another few cycles, and possibly long cycles for another 5 months. I mean it's not a dead cert in any way shape or form, but helpful nonetheless!

Almost forgot, it also says cycle disturbances are most common in women aged 30-35 who have had no previous children, so that's me exactly ha - turn 32 next month, no children, never been pregnant etc. x

Report
AMS19 · 26/10/2020 17:13

Really interesting @MintGreenLife also me, 32 and never been pregnant. So far my body is playing ball but very early days and we all know an OPk peak means nothing with a temp rise. I think in hindsight 12 months pre TTC is the perfect time to come off. Condoms aren't great, but I dont think I would ever go back on the pill now. If/when we have a baby I'll just use protection/natural cycles until we go for a second I think! Does seem positive you might be over the worst though? And things are hopefully now getting back to "normal" for you. It will probably all happen at once, new house, get pregnant. It is always the way!

@AMS19 haha I really hope it pans out that way! I've not got my hopes up, but at least hopefully there may be light at the end of the tunnel. I'm with you on that though - I would never ever go back on the pill after all this and everything I've learnt about it!

Hope everyones doing alright ❤️ I've still got 3 weeks til first scan @TheDaydreamBelievers I also think it's weird no one checks you're pregnant. I have now got to the hideous feeling nasueous all day long stage. Such fun for you all to look forward to!

@TheHotelCalifornia thanks for the new thread! Re the temping to explain more I breathe through my mouth usually and struggle at times to get enough air through my nose, which seems to be worse first thing in the morning! But I agree it does seem like a really good way to keep track.

@MintGreenLife @AMS19 I also meet those criteria for cycle disturbances! I had an implant out a year ago and went on the pill again as really didn't want to get pregnant at that time (was changing jobs) but maybe it would have been better not to. Nothing I can do about it now though :) Congrats on the peak AMS19!
