TTC plan change after postponing wedding

Hi guys. Has anyone else’s TTC plans changed following a postponed wedding? We were getting married in April 21 but due to the new regulations we’ve decided to change it to May 22. Our original plan was to TTC after the wedding, I’d finished my last pill pack last week and was planning on starting folic acid at the start of next year. So now we’re thinking of TTC as soon as AF finishes and hoping we fall quick to have baby before the new date!

Our wedding was cancelled back in June and although we rescheduled we decided to start TTC straight away.

We got married a couple of weeks ago and I got my BFP yesterday on cycle 3. Wishing you luck Smile

@RebeccaLF congratulations! I really don’t know what to expect as I’ve been on the pill for so long, that’s why I was planning on stopping it now to give my body time to adjust but never mind we’ll just have to see what happens! X

@Purpleflowers21 meant to get married June this year, postponed to June 21. We decided to postpone in March 2020, finished my pill packet in April and started TTC straight away, got my BFP on cycle 4 so due 2 month before me new wedding date (which might end up changing again anyway- so I am so glad we decided to try sooner rather than later). Got my 12 week scan on Monday ☺️

@Purpleflowers21 our wedding was a couple of weeks ago. I came off the pill in April when we realised we might not being able to go ahead with the wedding and started TTC in May. We decided to postpone the 'wedding' but have a small ceramony this year as was important to us to still get married. Unfortunately I've been struggling with my cycle since I came off the pill with no obvious reason. I'm charting BBT and using OPKs and as far as I can tell I've only successfully ovulated once despite getting AF to four times. Fingers crossed things go back to normal for you quickly. Now we have 'postponed' I too have the difficulty of trying to fit in TTC and fit into a fitted wedding dress next year, but we've decided not to stop trying and if needs be we will move the date again. For all we know it might not even be able to go ahead September next year anyway! X

Why not have a small marriage ceremony and save a big bash for a more appropriate time. That way you don't have to worry about conception.

@MintGreenLife oh thats so frustrating! I remember chatting to you in one of the other threads. Was it one of the more recent cycles you acctually ovulated on?

MintGreenLife · 26/09/2020 22:51

@blodyn91 congrats on your BFP 😀 It was the cycle before last that I ovulated and had a normal LP. It lasted 55 days though and I didn't ovulate until around CD40. My last cycle I'm not entirely sure what happened. I can't work out from my BBT whether I either ovulated and had a short luteal phase (which seems weird after a normal luteal phase the previous cycle) or I had an anovulatory cycle. I had a very unwelcome surprise AF a few days into our honeymoon 🤦🏻‍♀️ X

@MintGreenLife uch hope. you still had a fab time! Hopefully now that the wedding is over you have less to stress about. I did seed cycling, not sure if you have looked into that?

@blodyn91 thanks, the day was still lovely despite it not being what we originally planned. I'm seed cycling as well ☺️ Every time I go to do the food shop I grab a bag of pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. I currently have three unopened bags of sunflower seeds as I never make it to the luteal phase to switch 😂 Not going to lie, am starting to worry there's something going on now as the majority of people I have spoken to that came off the pill got back on track fairly quickly 😕 I've got a blood test next week and am waiting on a referral for a scan x

@blodyn91 congratulations! We’ve postponed to May 22 so going to start TTC as soon as AF finishes. Hopefully we’ll fall as quickly as you did.

@MintGreenLife ah that’s a pain about your cycles. I’ve been on the pill about 12 years so I have no idea how long it will take to get back to normal but I know it might take a while. I reckon we’ll TTC and if we don’t fall by maybe March we’ll stop until after the new wedding date. I hope everything goes ok with your blood test etc, I have heard it takes some people up to a year to get back to normal after stopping the pill x

@Purpleflowers21 thanks ☺️ I heard the same but then the more people I chat to on here the more I find most go back to normal pretty quickly, so then I find myself wondering why I haven't and what might be wrong 😕 Hopefully you'll find you're one of the ones that gets back on track pretty quickly. Seems more people do than don't. You've got a nice long window to give it a good go ☺️ We've decided now we are officially married we're not going to stop TTC, will just have to see how it all works timing wise in the end! X

@MintGreenLife it’s so crazy how you hear of people getting pregnant after missing 1 pill then others take so long once coming off it. Fingers crossed you won’t be waiting too much longer x

@Purpleflowers21 have you postponed twice? we are already thinking about postponing again to 2022. We have over 100 guests and I will not cut it down 🙈
@MintGreenLife if you have ovulated once then you know at least one ovary is working, and thats all you need! Just keep eating healthy, and stay mentally healthy too. Must be frustrating that its taking longer to get back to normal, but you will. Maybe with no deadline pressure to ttc your stress levels will ease (and we all know that cortisol is a bitch), there might be no big wedding parties next year either so 100% carry on with ttc

@blodyn91 no this is the first time rearranging. We have 80 day guests and a band booked for the evening and we just didn’t see us being able to have the wedding we want by April. That’s why we decided to go to 2022 you’ve got to think things will be ok by then! X

Hey @Purpleflowers21 we were due to get married in June, then September and now.. no date 😂

In July we decided to TTC and that has now become our priority! I always wanted to be married first (for no particular reason) but Covid changed that and we realised that untimely, the wedding is one day.. we don't want to put our lives on hold for it. Plus, we've been together 12 years (since teens) and marriage isn't going to change anything between us!

Good luck on your TTC journey ❤️

@beckyBP oh wow it’s been such a strange year hasn’t it! We’re exactly the same as you, been together 13 years this year and I always said I’d want to be married first but I guess things don’t always work out as planned!
How are you finding TTC? I don’t want to become obsessed straight away haha. Good luck to you too! X

@Purpleflowers21 oh my gosh I know, how on earth do you end up getting pregnant from missing one pill! I'm 6 months off and at this point we must have had unprotected sex 100+ times and nothing urgh.

@blodyn91 thanks, you're totally right. I'm just gutted we missed the egg that one time I ovulated, as I thought I already had as I got the crosshairs on my Fertility Friend app from my BBT, but my EWCM carried on another five days and had a clearer temp shift later. I just so badly wanted to believe I had ovulated so we skipped DTD for a few days after doing it every other day for about 40 days that cycle ha. I know now just to carry on every other day despite how long my cycle is dragging out for x

We were due to get married in April this year, it's now been pushed back to April 2021 (and waiting to see if it happens then or not!)

We did want to be married before TTC ideally, but we've decided it just isn't worth waiting for a piece of paper. So we are about to start trying anyway and the wedding will just have to happen when it happens!

Personally though I quite like the idea of being a pregnant bride. I've always thought it's kind of nice, I know it is some people's worst nightmare, but I think a bump under a wedding dress is lovely :)

@wildraisins it’s just so awful not knowing isn’t it! Ours was April next year but we decided to change to 2022. So have you started TTC already?

Hi everyone! Sorry all your weddings have been postponed :( but I'm happy I'm in the same boat at someone else! I was supposed to get married 2 Saturdays ago, it was a bit gutting waking up that day! We decided to postpone back in May. I had always said I'd come off the pill after the wedding but we couldn't see a quick way out of covid so I stopped straight away. I had 2 normal length cycles but didn't notice any changes in cm at all (sorry tmi!)... Then I had a 6 week cycle and now I'm currently on CD40. I tried opks for the last 2 cycles, nothing exciting happened on them so just dtd a lot around expected ov. I did notice a lot of cm changes this month, I'm hoping that means something. Even though I know 5 months isnt that much, I do feel like everywhere I look someone is pregnant!

@MrsBtobe2020 oh tell me about it, my Facebook is full of pregnancy and birth announcements haha. I hope your cycles are returning to normal! When we start the pill we just assume as soon as you stop things will be back to normal don’t we?! How long were you on it? Mine was about 12 years so I really don’t know what to expect, from what I remember I was pretty regular before it so hoping it will return soon

@Purpleflowers21 yes we aren't ever told the true story about how it might affect us coming off. I was on it for 8 years or so, it worked so amazingly well for me that I always thought 'I'm never coming off the pill' but now that idea has definitely changed! I only vaguely recall periods pre pill, they were every month but very painful.

@Purpleflowers21 Good that you have managed to rearrange for 2022. Were your venue and suppliers OK with it? I think we are getting to a point where we might like to rearrange again, but the problem is the venue have our money already and if they want to be awkward then they could :( Feeling very powerless in it all tbh! It's such a wrench, we are so gutted about the whole thing. We were meant to have 120 people at our wedding and we really don't want a day with only 15-30 people, we'd rather cancel completely but not sure if we'll be able to now.

Anuway yes in more exciting news I have just come off the pill about a week ago so yes officially TTC now - I am expecting it to take at least a few months from what I have heard!

@wildraisins when is your wedding planned for atm? We could loose a couple grand in deposit, but thats it. Very tempted to move to 2022. Going to wait till Christmas as heard this vaccine has progressed more than what they are telling us
