I'm 28 and TTC for the first time! I have been off the pill for four years. I'm using the Clear Blue Ovulation test and I'm waiting for my most fertile day to show up so I can get the Mr to perform haha. We have regular sex but only stopped condoms this month.
Im obsessing over google and I just want to make sure I'm doing everything I can. Any tips?

There are a bunch of things you can do - all of which end up making you more stressed about the matter. Since you’re young and have only just started I would just have enough sex and see what happens 😉

My tip is to relax. Don't make trying to conceive a chore and just enjoy yourselves.

@lisa322 take folic acid and vitamin D supplements
Good luck x

Take folic acid and and you could use Pre-Seed lubricant

Also, relax. Don't turn it into a military operation, just have sex whenever you want and when you get your static smiley on your ovulation test, have sex for 2-3 days in a row.

Just regular sex throughout your cycle and loads around your fertile stage.

Thanks everyone!
In regards to not jumping up straight away, does it matter if some comes out while going for a pee after?Sorry to be so blunt!

Hey!

I'm 27 and we're TTC for the first time too! I spoke to my dr who suggested Folic acid daily and to try the OPK from the first day after your period ends once a day then CD11 I think she said twice daily.. I bought easy @ home strips (50 of them!) from amazon & did them 4pm and 10pm to start with then morning noon and night during fertile week as getting a normal cycle after the pill - I use the strips with the Premom app which I cant recommend enough! Allows you to upload the photos on the app of the OPK to compare!

I've got Conceive plus lubricant (first month using and 3rd cycle TTC - currently 3 Dpo) along with conceive plus fertility supplements and conceive plus ovulation support - the tablets are brill as have really regulated my cycle for me from 67 days 😰 to 28 days within 1 month and now a pretty regular cycle!

Good luck x

Ps, they say laying down for 15 mins after DTD is helpful but not sure how true that is 🙈

I don’t think it matters as that’s usually all the proteins etc. However I usually wait and use the bathroom in the morning

Please don’t do this, you’re risking UTIs. The force of the man’s orgasm fires the sperm up where they need to be. By all means lie down for a bit if you want (as a PP said there’s little evidence this helps) but don’t go to sleep after sex without emptying your bladder.

Ha, I wouldn’t fancy that! Pregnant first cycle each time we tried

I’m sorry I don’t understand. I don’t go to bed with a full bladder? I wee before I go to bed and thus before I have sex...

Have sex 2-3 times a week every week. Not just in your fertile window.

We do have sex everyday other day but I'm just wondering why does it help?

TTC

So should I be doing my ovulation tests twice a day? I've been doing it first thing in morning

Report
mouldygrapes · 24/09/2020 21:18

@Mama1993 you should always pee after sex, even if it’s not a full bladder. The urethra is very close to the vagina and bacteria get pushed up there during sex. It’s always recommended to flush them out before sleeping, as not doing so risks causing a UTI

Report
GunsAndShips · 24/09/2020 21:19

Lying down afterwards makes bog all difference. The sperm get to where they need to really quickly. The sperm that aren't able to do that should be allowed to fall out with everything else anyway.

And a pp is right. You should urinate pretty soon after sex as it will flush out any bacteria introduced to the entrance of the urethra and prevent UTIs.

Am I missing something?

When did getting pregnant become such a chore? OP says she's trying for the first time, what's wrong with ditching all the tests, and stressing and just doing it whenever you feel most in the mood???

We might be exceptionally lucky, we now have seven wonderful children, but I could always tell when my wife was most fertile, and pretty sure she knew as well.... hormones are powerful things, they've been working pretty well to maximise the chances of conception for a long time....

Use ovulation tests twice a day if using cheap strip tests but if using a CB digi then you just follow the instructions and use on the days it tells you.

I wouldn't worry about any of this at the moment if you're only just starting TTC.
