Baby aspirin?

Hey guys. I’m currently 8dpo, so still very early, but I took an IC this morning and I swear I can see the faintest shadow of a line. I’m only on day 23 of a day 28 cycle so super early. I had a mc last year, and then two chemicals in the last three months. I’m fed up now and am willing to try anything. I’ve researched a lot about baby aspirin and it seems to have worked with many women ttc after a miscarriage. I have my first recurrent miscarriage appointment in 10 days or so but if I am pregnant right now, I want to try the aspirin from like tomorrow maybe. I don’t want to wait until the appt because I don’t think I’ll get up to that point. The chemicals in the last three months were at 4+3 and 4+4 weeks so super early.

Has anyone taken baby aspirin and has it worked for you guys? Do you think I should take it without telling my doctor? That’s probably what the recurrent mc clinic will give me anyway? And such a low dose shouldn’t do any harm, right?

Can you call the recurrent miscarriage clinic and ask their advice? In my experience they should take action to help you ASAP if you have just found out you're pregnant.

I have had three miscarriages this year and am now 12 weeks. I spoke to my GP straight after getting my BFP and she said taking aspirin 'wouldn't hurt', so I did. Then a week later I had a thromboelastogram test with the recurrent miscarriage clinic (at St Mary's Paddington), which showed increased clotting factors, so they actually increased the aspirin dose to 150mg.

Best of luck! It's so stressful being pregnant after previous losses.

Thank you so much, congratulations!! I want to make sure that I actually am pregnant though because now I’m thinking can they be evap lines because they’re so so faint? They wouldn’t show up on a picture so I won’t post but I might test again tomorrow or I’ll wait until 10dpo, and then I’ll test.

It’s super stressful, I saw the faintest shadow of a line and I didn’t get excited at all because I’ve gotten excited too many times before. I’m used to seeing a line now, but then I always start my period. It’s been so difficult.. twice in the last three months. One miscarriage is bad enough and three are just hell. I’m so fed up, I will do anything I can to help a pregnancy stick. Best of luck to you too!

@Ally19 do you think it was the aspirin that helped you? How many DPO were you when you got your positive and started taking it? x

Oh gosh you poor thing, it's so hard. I found the TWW the worst - with this pregnancy I tested from 8dpo and then got upset at a bfn even though it was way too early!

I got a clear bfp at 10dpo but waited until 14dpo to start aspirin, on the day I also spoke to my GP. I probably would have started taking it even if she hadn't been supportive because I was so desperate and felt like I had nothing to lose.

I definitely feel like it's made a difference but then I was diagnosed with a blood clotting issue which is known to cause recurrent miscarriages. So in my case there was a good reason to take the aspirin. If you read around on Mumsnet obsessively like me then you'll see lots of success stories, although the evidence seems to say it'll only help if you have an issue like clotting.

I also had 3 early losses this year all between 4 and 6 weeks. And with a long waiting list for the RMC I panicked that I might need to start baby aspirin before a doctor actually prescribed it to me. I ended up taking it (150mg) from 4dpo and once I got my BFP that month I rang my doctor and just made her aware I was taking it so that it was on my record incase god forbid I ended up in hosp and the doctors needed to know I was on a blood thinner/ or to double check I wasn’t contradicted for it. My doctor advised me that she knew it was a treatment from the RMC but that’s she couldn’t prescribe it as she wasn’t knowledgeable enough around it and early pregnancy but advised she couldn’t stop me taking it myself and that I wasn’t contradicted.

I then rang back 2 weeks later when I knew I had passed the first threshold of a chemical pregnancy and spoke to a different doctor regarding referring me for early scans for reassurance and she advised me to start aspirin and high dose vit D. At my 6 weeks scan I seen a heart beat and the midwife actually said that I needed to start taking aspirin and was please to hear I had started myself on it. I’m now 9 weeks and fingers crossed it has worked all is ok.

Point is let ur doctor know u are taking it on ur own accord bur ensure u aren’t contradicted. If ur safe to take it then it is safe in pregnancy and if you feel u need to start now then go for it. Best of luck!

Thanks so much guys, good luck with your pregnancies! If it’s definitely a BFP (because I’m confused right now as it’s so so so faint), I’ll start taking the aspirin because I too am ready to try anything. I’ll let my doctor know of course, I’m just so tired now that I’ll do literally anything.

I know I want to take the aspirin but some people on this site have me worried by saying that taking aspirin even after implantation can affect it and that it can actually cause a miscarriage? Even such a low dose?

@dreamerkr if u already have implanted and had ur BFP then I think u should be ok?

I don’t know if I’ve had my BFP though because it was hardly there. I can’t test this morning because I’ve ran out of tests 😫 which is probably a good thing lol! I want to make sure before starting the aspirin

I'm a patient with a recurrent miscarriage clinic and was told categorically no to taking baby aspirin - unless you have a diagnosed medical need then it can actually increase your chance of having a miscarriage not decrease it

I got my hands on a test, it’s an Answer test.. the ones that look really similar to a FRER. There’s a super, super, super faint line that came up within the timeframe. I’m only 9dpo so it’s super early. How is this possible! Can you guys see anything? It’s definitely there. I’m shocked

I can see something but it's supper faint. If you're a POAS Addict like myself I'd test every other day to keep me sane lol

I can see something too! Is it pink in real life? And was it FMU? Fingers crossed!

You need to take 75mg or baby aspirin in the morning and 75mg in the evening.

Also try to see if you can get prescribed 400mg pessarys of progesterone and take one in the morning and one at night. X

I think it’s pink, it definitely came up in the time frame. Maybe it’s a superrrrr faint pink? Yes, it was FMU. I hate doing this to myself every month and testing so early but I can’t help it!

A few years ago I had 3 consecutive miscarriages, after investigations with a consultant at the hospital they could not find any reason for the miscarriages and I was told to take 75mg aspirin when I next fell pregnant. I don’t know if it was the aspirin or not but my 4th Pregnancy was successful! Daughter is now 18 months. I have just found out I am pregnant again (4.5 weeks) and will definitely be taking aspirin 🤞
