Bright yellow pee?!

So I ran out of my usual folic acid with vit d supplement and went to buy more online but they were out of stock so I got a different one that contains both folic acid and vit d along with a few more things (all good for ttc) one of them is vit b6.

I’ve only been taking them for 3 days but my pee is now bright, like fluorescent yellow! It has to be the vits? I’m in no way dehydrated and it’s not that dark yellow you get if you’re dehydrated, it’s proper bright glowing yellow.

Is this normal? Does anyone else get this taking certain supplements? I’ve googled and found a few things say that vit b6 caused yellow pee and it’s just your body getting rid of excess vitamins it doesn’t need.

Just wasn’t sure whether I should stick with them (no other side effects so far) or try and get some more basic ones like my simple folic acid with vit d ones.

Thanks 😊

Hi @Moominmiss I had exactly the same and I was taking pregnacare, was bright yellow in the mornings and faded throughout the day.

Unfortunately pregnacare was messing up my cycles so I have just gone back to taking folic acid by itself and the bright yellow wee has gone 😊 i don't think its anything to be concerned about xx

Thank you. Yeah same, it fades as the day goes on. It’s not pregnancies I’m taking but a supplement called strong start from nature’s best. I might just go back to the simple ones if I can buy done locally. I definitely don’t want anything messing with my cycles.

Thank you!

@Moominmiss my first month of taking them it made me 7 days late and AF only stuck around for 24 hours. Not very normal for me at all, ive heard of other women having problems with pregnacare but not heard of any other supplements causing problems. If you stick with it just keep an eye on your cycle, mine went back to normal the next month, AF turned up on time and lasted my normal 3 days. I'm definitely just sticking with folic acid by itself i think. Xx

Thank you! I’ve decided I’m not willing to risk my cycles being messed with so I’m going to go out tomorrow and try and pick up some plain folic acid and vit d.

It's usually B12 that causes the yellow wee , it's just your body expelling any excess you don't need.

Oh gosh yes. Mine was like this!! So bright it was almost illuminous. Even when wiping the tissue paper would turn bright yellow too. Although not as weird as when my ferrous fumerate years ago turned my poo bright green 😅

You are literally pissing away the money you have spent on vitamins I'm afraid ☺️ you take a wide spectrum of vitamins in the tablet and your body rids itself of what you don't need (eg what you have already taken in via food) through excrement and urine.
