Positive OPK for 17 days in a row?

I have had two lines for 17 days, the lines are not definite positive each day but always two strong visible lines. Should I be concerned?

My DS is 9 months old. I have always had a period every month since they began in my early teens. However, I haven't had a period for 12 weeks now and I don't know why? I've taken several pregnancy tests and all have been negative. No changes (weight, stress, not breastfeeding diet etc). However today is the 17th day in a row where I've had a positive OPK and I've read that can be a sign for PCOS. But I've also read it can be a sign for early pregnancy, I've taken two clear blues and they have been negative.

Can PCOS develop after you've had children? Advice please!

Didn't want to read and run but just wanted to say that you should go to the GP. The NHS website says to go for tests if you haven't had a period for 3 months.

Hmm, is it just two lines? Or actual positives? You mentioned that they're 'not definite positives' but the further down you say '17th day in a row I've had a positive OPK'

Reason I'm asking is I always have two lines on my OPKs - you always have low levels of LH in your pee, it may depend which OPKs you are using as some are more sensitive than others x

Just for a bit of insight, I have PCOS and I stopped using OPKs and left it down to chance because I never got a single positive and it was stressful. I've never heard of that being a sign of PCOS as usually people with PCOS have anovulatory cycles, that's why they struggle to get pregnant

With OPKs I have used, the 'test' line is always visible. To be a positive it must be darker than the control line. Double check instructions? Good luck OP

@MintGreenLife This is my first ever time of using OPK's, I thought to use them to see if I actually was ovulating but I'm just more confused. They have been faint and then dark, so a mixture. I have read that if it's darker than the control line it's a positive. I just didn't think I would get two lines for 17 days straight.

So has the line been darker than the control line for 17 days? Or fainter? I always have two lines on mine, and then my actual surge is quite short as I'll only get a positive for one day, but if yours always have two lines that's normal, it's when the line is darker than the control that's a positive, and LH can build up over a number of days before you get a positive, so it's ok to get darker lines for a few days without it being an actual positive x

@princesstiabeanie Oh maybe I've read it wrong, but it said you can get positive OPK continuously with PCOS on an article. @MintGreenLife So has the line been darker than the control line for 17 days?

Ah I see, that makes sense, sorry if I seem clueless. It has been faint, and then darker but not as dark as the control line so I presume they have all be negative. So it's normal to get two lines (negative ones) until my LH surge and then it should be 1 like (the control one)? x

@geometric5 no worries, it's all pretty confusing to begin with! No so it's normal to always have two lines, even after ovulation. I always have the dark control line and a faint line, and then before ovulation the line gets darker than the control line and is a positive, and then the lines get fainter again. Basically OPKs measure the LH surge which triggers ovulation, but you'll always have low levels of LH in your pee. It's worth noting though that OPKs can't confirm ovulation, the only way to do that is by temping and seeing a temp rise the day after ovulation. By the sounds of things what you are saying is normal - there's always two lines on OPKs, it's just a line darker than the control that you are looking for x

I know in very rare circumstances a woman can be pregnant and have a negative result on a urine test, I would suggest a blood test for pregnancy just to totally rule it out? So I'd say definitely visit the doctors x

@MintGreenLife Ahh thank you, that makes total sense. So it's normal to have two lines all the time? I was worrying. Hopefully I'll see a darker line then I'll know I'm ovulating. Just worried because it's been 3 months now without a period x

Would you say this is positive now?

Unfortunately no, that is still definitely negative. The test line must be the same or darker to be positive.
I was diagnosed with PCOS when TTC DS1, my cycles were 100+ days and often anovulatory, so I sympathise with you.
Were you on hormonal contraception until TTC? For me the pill masked my PCOS. I had none of the 'classic' PCOS symptoms either and had regular periods as a teenager.

I've just taken a pregnancy test and I think I can see another line! The top is OPK, bottom is HPT. Inverted too and there's definitely colour. Took a clear blue and that says not pregnant. What do you think?
