Hi everyone I posted yesterday but didn’t get any reply’s so I will try in this part, iv had my copper coil fitted since December 2018. So in the whole 18 months I have Never been late on my period at all with it they are just usually heavier. I got an Apple Watch a few months ago and it tracks my periods as iv been putting them in. So iv been very busy with my children during this lockdown and yes I would say stressed at times but then my app said my period is late yesterday by 2 days. So now it’s 3 days late and I’ve checked my app to when my last period was and it’s correct I am late! So Now I’m a bit worried that it’s late but to be honest wouldn’t have even noticed if it wasn’t for my app telling me...... is anyone else’s period running late during the lockdown because of stress? Is there any chance that it’s because of a pregnancy? Has anyone ever got pregnant while on the copper coil??

Is there any chance that it’s because of a pregnancy?

If you have had sex, yes.

No contraception is 100% effective. Not even the copper coil.

I only had the coil fitted in March but since then have had regular periods. This month the Ovia app told me I was due on four days ago but still no sign on my period. I came off all contraception in November as we planned to start trying maybe April/May time however after CV we decided to put it off until next year and so had the copper coil fitted. I feel silly taking a test but I'm worrying slightly about why I could be late. I don't think I've been stressed much recently. Like you if it wasn't for the app I probably wouldn't have noticed but now I have I can't stop thinking about it!

You're unlikely to be pregnant. I've had the copper coil in for 2 years and my periods have been late for the last 6 months or so. I even have spotting the week after it finishes.

I'm not pregnant.

There is a whole thread on here about periods stopping since lockdown. I was surprised how many. I think there was a article too.

My mum fell pregnant on the copper coil. This was 35 years ago but can't imagine they've changed that much!
I'm now 27 weeks pregnant after having my tubes cut and tied so can safely say no protection is 100% safe!
The only way to make sure is a test.

Hi op I fell pregnant when I had a copper coil and had it removed after a positive pregnancy test. So I think if your late the best thing to do is take test.,

My friend got pregnant with a copper coil but it hadn’t been long in and she said it hadn’t been fitted properly. So it’s possible though I would assume given how long it’s been in unlikely? That’s my assumption though you’d best take a test to make sure.

Ok thanks everyone I will call up the chemist later on and pick up a test. I’m waiting for surgery also so I really hope it’s just stress making me late!
