Irregular Periods and Fell Pregnant?

Hey everyone,

Wanted to start a new thread, I came off the pill last October my partner and I been TTC.

I haven't taken a proper period since coming off, so getting bloods taken next week at doctors.

I'm now really worried there is a problem or it's going to take some time to fall pregnant.

Has anyone had the same issue or suffer from irregular periods and fell pregnant?

Please share with me your story xx

Hi @Ruby24F

I came of the pill in march/April 2018 my cycles were all over the place. I had cycles ranging from 4 weeks to 4 months over the last two years. My last 3 cycles have been about 40 days so going in the right direction. My current cycle I was taking pregnacare conception (which I started about CD 20 of previous cycle) and I ovulated CD 18 of this cycle and got my bfp on CD 29 (very faint line which has got very strong over time-I've taken many tests! )

It was our first proper cycle of trying, using opks and bbt tracking and I'm 6weeks pregnant tomorrow. So hopefully your body is just getting used to not having the hormones from the pill and will soon start regulating a bit better for you. I hope your doctors appointment goes well 🤞 x

Yes, came off the pill last year about July time. Had no periods, then a light period Christmas and then nothing again. Went to to gp March and he referred me for a scan to rule out polycystic ovaries as I was getting cramps and no periods. Scan was fine but found excess fluid said may be due to ovulation or something else so was booked in for another scan. Had blood tests after the scan and gp phoned the next day that I needed to do a pregnancy test as my blood hcg levels were slightly raised but unsure if consistent with early pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy. Had to have my blood hcg checked over the next few days to make sure increasing after a positive urine test. I am now 9 weeks pregnant. Still early I know but I thought it would never happen for us just because my periods were non existent but I managed to get caught so don’t give up hope! I saw my gp first in December before my one light period and she said not to worry that you can ovulate without having regular periods and she was right! Even though I didn’t believe her at the time.

Hi @Ruby24F, I came off the implant two years ago...been on pill from age 13, until 21.then implants until 30. I’ve had blood tests which came back all normal, period seems regular at 29 days....don’t think it will ever happen for me. We’re not regularly trying, if it happens it’ll happen. At first I was worried when I came off everything, but it all settles and seems go like clockwork. It’s just doing the deed more regularly as we haven’t hit that point of making it become routine as we don’t want the stress of making it happen.

Totally get where you’re coming from. Have a work colleague, she miscarried at 6weeks just before Christmas, then in feb suddenly announced she was pregnant again, yesterday she announced she’s having a boy (her sixth child and she’s 40) I’m just like why?how?, when will it be me? Envy

I came off all contraception a full year before we began TTC (used condoms during this time).
I was all over the place, the gap between periods ranged from 2 weeks to 4 months and I was convinced I’d struggle to conceive. In reality I was pregnant within 7 weeks or starting to try.

Good luck xx

When my cycles came back after breastfeeding baby 1, they were all over the place. I used ovulation sticks a few times and after working out what I was looking for managed to conceive after 3 periods (but 6 months after the first one)
